Glad to note some improvements and news since my initial review a year ago! (My newer photos are at the end). The middle bridge has been restored and usable. Also, there is a new lovely sensory garden that offers benches for contemplation. Totally new: on any given weekends such as this one, they have food trucks! There is outdoor seating by the museum and on a number of benches throughout the arboretum. Don’t forget to check out the Artemis Moon Tree close to the museum. The placard is worth a read.

My review from a year ago: What a wonderful, kid-friendly and dog-friendly place for a leisurely or brisk walk on the well-kept asphalt walkway that wraps around a long creek and pond. Visit the perennial garden and special gardens sprinkled throughout. Many plants and trees are labeled for easy identification. Enjoy the statues and activity boards for children. On one of my visits, a worldwide Pokémon event was being held and groups of people were clustered throughout, all ages, doing there...

The Reading Public Museum Arboretum can be described as 25 acres of beautiful trees, flowers, and wildlife. The arboretum is a refreshing walk that is near the museum and completely free. There are nice sculptures located throughout the arboretum as well. If you’re seeing this for the first time be sure to grab a guide that describes the sculptures, trees and fauna. Benches are located near the walking paths and provide a nice place to relax. The walking trails in the park are paved and mostly flat. The bridges over the stream that runs through the middle of the park are picturesque. If you have time be sure to see the Reading Public Museum as well, it is a gem. The arboretum is a great place to enjoy in the...

This lovely area could easily be called the Crown Jewel of Berks County. Within its confines can be found an amazing museum, a first rate planetarium, beautiful gardens of all seasons, an arboretum, sculpture garden, and fishing creek. It's one of the few places I know of where a family can experience an entire day of fun and learning surrounded by the immense diversity of nature's own instruction. If you love all things beautiful and enlightening, you owe it to yourself, family, and friends to come and enjoy this finely polished gem.

If that doesn't interest you, this site is one of the best places in Berks County to enjoy playing Pokemon Go. Gotta...

We absolutely love this Museum! We have taken our grandkids to the Dinosaur Exhibit (last year) as well as the Aliens and Androids Exhibit recently. Also the grounds at the Museum are very well maintained. We arrived a little early to the Museum so we walked around on the walking path. They have a lot of well-maintained flowers and trees. Also has a little stream which we saw some ducks. We wish we lived closer to the Museum because we would get a yearly membership so we could take the grandkids more often.

The Reading Museum has many fascinating exhibits BUT it used to be a better museum. No more Degas pastels, for instance, that they used to display. And the great gem collection has been missing for years: where are they? Better not get rid of the F. Church oil or the N.C. Wyeth (among other great artists) or it will be simply just a beautiful building. Also, place the rope barriers further from the taxidermy exhibits: too easy for people to mess with them (and they will)....
