My stay here wasn’t anything great, and was interrupted on Saturday night by the extremely loud group of baseball parents at the bar, and their kids who were on the floors running up and down the halls, and eventually banging on doors at 11pm.
I’ve stayed at this hotel previously 2 times, and never had the issues with the baseball teams, but after reading reviews, believe me when I tell you that it’s not something you want to deal with if you’ve had a long day and want to relax.
The other thing I’ve never had here, and still continue not to have is an exciting or even mediocre experience with the front desk staff. Each time I’ve checked in, out or req’d towels, or the last time I was there I forgot my tooth brush and tooth paste, I always seemed like I was bothering them. When I checked in, the black lady that checked me in had some other brand of ear pods on, didn’t speak much and inspected my Gov’t ID like is was fake because it was still in my lanyard from work that day. She did tell me about breakfast but that was it. No real conversation or small talk of any kind, and she went back to talk to someone in the back I believe right after.
The next night I req’d some towels for the pool because there weren’t any, and the lady (who I believe was Filipino only because her accent slipped once and being Filipino myself I try and spot us) who I believe was the one who gave me a dirty look and attitude of disgust about my tooth brush and tooth paste needs last year, gave the same half irritated look for the towels on Saturday night, but did say she’d have housekeeping put more pool towels out. I also asked for another set of towels before heading back up to my room, because my other 2 hadn’t dried from my previous showers.
Accommodations are mediocre. Rooms are outdated and were 10 years ago. TV’s are “updated.” My shower this time didn’t spew out water all over the floor, but it did have such a big valley in the center of the tub that it kept that nearly inch of pooled water for the entire stay and was uncomfortable to stand in.
Beds are subpar depending. My previous stay they were horrendous. This set wasn’t horrible but weren’t great. Pillows are extremely thing.
I did find 3 different random strands of hair on one of the pillows on one of the beds, so that pillow quickly got booted across the room. No other hairs were found in the pillows. They did smell pretty used but it’s not uncommon for pillows to not be cleaned for months or more at a time.
Floor appeared to be vacuumed, and not stained.
Most of the outlet plugs were loose, as typical. No dirty laundry bags in the closet, assuming they strayed away from plastic.
Market had typical soda and snacks, but appeared to be less than half stocked.
Overall an extremely mediocre stay. So much so that between the rude baseball groups and the year-after-year unexciting staff, I may not be back. I know there’s groups that stay for the WWII weekend there and they weren’t happy this stay either, especially the pilots. So I doubt they’ll be back there next year as well.
If you’re not paying for the place, or only care about having the onsite bar/food options, or being within a blocks walk of the WaWa, then stay here. Otherwise, maybe...
Read moreto start, I will say that the hotel was very nicely laid out, and the rooms were extremely clean. The hotel was very accommodating with providing extra towels as well. The front desk staff were phenomenal.
now for the negatives. One of the nights I stayed there I came off the elevator shortly after 1 AM I looked to my left, and I saw the janitor who was taking out trash. He looked at me and watched me go into the first floor bathroom. York I was in the bathroom for sometime, but I know that he never watched me leave the bathroom he proceeds to come into the bathroom for no reason at all I didn’t see him replace toilet paper or anything walk around the bathroom for maybe a good three minutes while I’m making it obvious that I am in the stall because I’m uncomfortable that there is a man in the bathroom. I was aware that it was the janitor because I looked at his shoes. My question is why would you be in the restroom with a female in the restroom? I was extremely uncomfortable and try to stall leaving so that he would leave first. when I came out of the bathroom, he pretends to be fixing the towels and says “sorry can i finish this up”… uh dude youre already in here and have been in here with me for the last five minutes.. so i couldnt use the bathroom in peace. It was wierd and he knew i hadnt left.
The second complaint about this hotel, I made sure I double and triple checked the time for a late check out. It was confirmed for 1pm. I confirmed that there would be no knocking on the door at 12 o’clock because I knew I may not be going to sleep until super late the night before….But of course house keeping comes knocking on the door at 11:58-12:00. if that was going to happen, I would not have gotten the late check out especially after I confirmed. When I brought this up to the front desk the response I got was “oh they were probably confused.” Where is there room for confusion when i confirmed that this wouldn't take place? so I would recommend not requesting any late checkouts from this hotel, dont even bother.. because theyll be confused? Id also not using the first four bathroom bathroom after 12 AM as you might get walked in on. Veey creepy overall.
other than that the hotel...
Read moreThe Marriott Courtyard in Reading is in a good location and in general one would expect Marriott service and quality... unfortunately it does fall short.|The hotel does NOT have it's Bistro operational, which leads it to be very quiet in the evening - if one is lucky there are some people at the bar but other than that it's rather quiet. Breakfast is NOT included, and the breakfast service is hit or miss - unfortunately their espresso machine didn't only break once during my stays and also overall the menu and prices are not making this a place to plan for and enjoy breakfast.|The rooms are rather dated but kept in ok shape, heating/cooling is provided by the so often seen wall units - with limited efficiency and comfort, the showers all leak into the bathroom floors and many show signs of mold in the caulking.|The workspace in the rooms is ok but not that comfortable - some rooms have a pull-out desk under the workspace, which makes a difference. In general the internet service is ok but sadly only is reliable via WiFi - the wired option is again a hit or miss. |Room service isn't reliable, they offer room service every other day unless daily room service is explicitly requested by the guest at check-in... that doesn't mean your request is received by the room service team. It is also inconsitent as there were room service days where our room had a cleaned bathroom but the bed was not made, drinking cups were not refilled and the ice bucket not cleaned (still contained the plastic bag and...
