Mariscos Las Islitas de Utah — Restaurant in West Valley City

This is a seafood place if you were like us and didn't know that from the name. I'm happy with that, my family was not. I was however craving just basic Mexican food and that was not on the menu, poor mom had almost no options (hates seafood) so we ordered a chicken quesidilla... that they failed to put chicken on... the menu options were OK, I've been to a similar place in town and this place didn't have as good as a menu. The serving I got was GIGANTIC and it was good but the service was pretty lacking. We saw our server exactly 3 time, getting our drink order, delivering drinks and getting g food order, then delivering food. We kept waiting for her to come back and never did,we were one of maybe 5 tables so it wasn't because they were busy. She never even brought our check, we finally went to the counter and asked for it. Also, while not bad the chips and salsa free starter was chips. I WOULD RATE ZERO STARS IF I COULD! THIS PLACE IS HORRIBLE!!! This place has loud music playing through out the day, so loud you cant even talk to one another. We walk in and no one greets us for about 5 minutes but we know the waitress saw us because she got a couple tables together (there was about 15 of us). We all take a seat and order, she got our food order wrong and said "well this food is cooked so someone needs to take it". Didn't come check on us, we had to get another waitress' attention to get us refills. When we ask for the check and tell her to split it (as we told her from the beginning and made sure each family ordered together) she said she could only split it in half. When we asked to speak to a manager about the issue she said she would "try" took 20 mins to split our ticket and 15% tip was included as she said "it's written on the menu". Food was OVERLY priced!!! Never going back and dont recommend...

The food largely varies from decent to cold and overly salty, I remember the salad was drenched in water. It's probably stored with water and left over night. Live music could be nice, but it's so loud that you need to scream for anyone to hear you. People come in, move seats and tables and drink beer. It shouldn't be a problem but the waiters and waitresses attend them with priority despite you having ordered first (they stand and talk with them not about what they're ordering but what the family is up to etc. While ignoring all other customers). Continuing with the service; They charge gratuity and getting your food takes a long time, the waiters and waitresses are not friendly. Despite a general low quality, the cost of food is very high.
