Food: Absolutely amazing. So much flavor in everything. I highly recommend the birria and al pastor tacos. The Burrito Jalisco was also mindblowing. The peppers and onions inside were caramelized, which took it to the next level. It came with steak, chicken, and shrimp, and it was all super juicy, perfectly cooked, and well-seasoned. The churros were very fresh and not stale whatsoever. The toppings at the toppings bar were great too, and I got some nice, thick crema, a fresh slice of lime, and some salsa. Both the verde and rojo were solid, but the highlight was the rojo. It's very rare a place can make something that's actually spicy for my tolerance, but they managed it here.

Service: I got to put my three semesters of Spanish into practice and used it to order. It was a super cool experience and everything came out as I wanted it.

Atmosphere: A bit of a hidden gem, as it's a food truck attached to a market in a less-trafficked area of town. They do have a small dining area, but I chose to get takeout and eat at home. They had tons of products ranging from snacks to medicine. It was very interesting to see all of that and I spent a good bit of time just looking around. I ended up buying some milk candy which was great.

Edit:

Visit number two. I think they gave me wrong tacos, but it was still good so I don't wanna complain too much. I can recommend the fajitas tapatia now as well.

Update 3:

Decided to dine in this time, and La Tapatia again doesn't disappoint. Arroz con carnitas and birria tacos were delicious. Prices are still insanely good, especially in...

So I think if you are looking for authentic Mexican food this is probably the place for you. If you're like me and have a very limited Spanish speaking ability with even less reading ability and just wanted to get your kid a good taco between doctors appointments then maybe look elsewhere. So a portion of the menu is in spanish only which would be fine if I could read spanish really well but I can't. So I asked the waitress if she just had beef tacos. She nodded and then asked me what I wanted to order. So I pull out the Google translate to try and help me communicate a little better. It didn't work. After leaving with our order another man came back and asked what we wanted to order (he was not nearly as nice as the woman). I tried again and he left. So our food comes and it's soft tacos with strips of steak in it which is technically beef so I'm like that's fine. I had ordered chicken and rice and it was good but sooooo spicy. We also got two bottles of sprite in actual glass bottles which I haven't had in years. So I ate half of mine. My kid ate some lettuce off of his and left the rest..."because it's soggy and gross....sigh. The waitress was really nice and when we paid the bill which was I think $28 (because she said the total in spanish). I was eager to add some pepto from the awesome market because heart burn had...

Authentic. What else can I say? The barria? Effing amazing. It isn't on all the menus. Ask for it. The Jarritos? They have the passion fruit. If you want a more adult flavor, get that one. The lingua? They get it a little crispy, which I love. It is the only lingua I would go back for again and again because it didn't make the tortilla soggy. The sopes con chorizo is the sleeper. Crazy good. If you like chorizo and don't mind getting a little greasy, it is a must. Just wear a taco shirt. They have a little salsa bar with cilantro, onion, salsa and even cheese and sour creme for the gringos no extra charge. Also, the shop part has some good little finds if you look around.

When you pull up to see the taco truck parked in front of the door you may want to turn around and leave that busted parking lot and just hit the Bell instead. Don't. Just take the leap (you may have to leap across the parking lot crevices, so wear sturdy shoes...this is not a place to be showing off those red bottoms). All jokes aside, this is one book you have to look past the cover and just dive right in. It is worth it. Forget Chipotle. We drive from Ligonier,...

We wanted to try out this local place because we heard the tacos were amazing. They have a food truck, and you can order to go. We took the family and planned to eat in. When you walk in, you enter directly into the market/bodega and you have to navigate around some super tight aisles lined with all sorts of grocery items. We ordered carne asada, the pollo, and a few quesadillas. You order at the counter and then grab your own drink. They bring the food out to the sparse dining room which had an extensive salsa bar with many options. The food came much quicker than I expected, but not all of it was super hot. It felt like the meat was just heated up not freshly prepared. Unfortunately, one of my daughters quesasillas had a hair in it. Food was just OK, but portions were big. Felt like we werent welcome there, like we were intruding. Kind of a bummer.

Super cute market/restaurant mix with great Mexican food! We got takeout and ate in the car for convenience. The burrito j, veggie tacos, and guac were all wonderful. my boyfriend inhaled the burrito in about 45 seconds, no joke. I looked over and saw how big it was and said “wow!” looked away to my taco and when I looked back it was gone haha! The guacamole was fresh and I loved the bite of the onions. The veggie tacos had great grilled flavor and soft corn tortilla - the aroma hit my face when I opened the foil and I just melted. I would love to try some of the meat tacos to see more of what the have to offer. The server was very kind, and we picked up some fun snacks while we were there to try. Wonderful experience!
