ok so we dont go out to fine dining very often 1st of all. However we went to the char b4 and it was a awesome expierience.have been wanting to go again for a while.our 31st anniversary was yesterday and i said lets go.we waited about a hour or more to be seated but we didnt care because of the anticipation of the expierience we recieved the last time we had visited.it was honestly the worst expierience weve had in a while.we were rushed by our waitress she had little to know care my wife asked how was the double stuff potato and the waqitress replied" i dont know do u like double stuff potatoes?????so she hit us very rude we let it pass its our anniversary.then she spoke to us in passing with me having to keep asking for more coffee instead of being checked on like our last visit.then we ordered our food i asked for the largest ribeye they had and was asked how i wanted it i replied likely pink.she said NO what temprature and just stared at me.....then we got our food and it was to red inside and i decided to eat it anyhow.she passed our table so fast that i couldnt ask for steak sauce.finally she sais is your steak ok??and i replied idk i need sauce so as the table cleaner was walking by she told him grab them steak sauce.he walked away brought back a1 sauce and i cant stand a1 sauce however they couldnt know as they didnt ask.my waitress was a councelor in the day i know this because she told the people behind me "i have a councelor job in the day time i wont be here tomorrow so i dont care how busy they get."you know we wont remember in 6 months how good the food was at least i didnt I remembered how i was TREATED.Last nite we were treated terrible and i hope whoever goes to char that they dont end up with this waitress.U WILL BE DISAPPOINTED.I hope char owners have not stooped to these type of employees full time.sorry but we were very disappointed not at all what we expected from this...

Richard and I were heading home to Michigan from Florida and stayed overnight in Beckley. We decided to try something local rather than the many chain restaurants in the area and it was a good decision. It was clear from the moment we stepped through the door that this was a locally owned and loved establishment, with staff taking pride in their work. We were warmly greeted at the door, by the busboy and finally our waitress Theresa. It actually felt like I was back in the 60's during the steak house heyday. The place seemed to be filled with local folk, out for a special night--there were several large birthday celebrations going on around us. Our server Theresa warmly greeted us and immediately tried to get to know us a little bit. Other patrons waved to her as they left, and I learned she had been a server there for 20 years! It was clear she treated her work there as a career and was very professional. She knew everything about the menu, the wines and confidently made recommendations based on our tastes. What a refreshing change from the chain restaurant atmosphere! I had Steak Diane which was a special that night and absolutely delicious. Richard had the filet which was equally good. The house salad was excellent and dinner was served with yummy garlic bread. The décor and atmosphere were delightful, elegant but not stuffy. Wine selection was very good too. I can't speak about the dessert menu, as we were too full from dinner, but it also looked great. If you are in the area, I highly recommend this place! i hope it sticks around for...

Unfortunately, if you don't "look" like you have money, you are treated poorly and looked at funny. My husband took me here for my birthday and while the food was mostly delicious, I cannot believe the service and how poorly we where treated. My husbands steak was dry, grainy, and stringy. It tasted as if it was frozen and tossed into the microwave. The alfredo was just buttered noodles, as the sauce was so loose it was a soup in the bottom of the bowl. Everything else we ate was wonderful. Regardless, we still ate and paid for our food. At no point where we asked if everything was okay, or if we enjoyed our food. Our server would rarely stop by and say "you want anything else" in a rushed tone. Keep in mind, they were not busy at this point. But the worst was after we had paid for our food, tipped and went to leave. We left a comment on the receipt about the poor quality of the filet we had, and our server CHASED us down to confront us about it. The whole point of writing a comment on the receipt was to keep it private, but our server didn't like that. Her tone was rude and unbelievably unprofessional. You don't go out of your way to leave the dining room to chase down two customers who paid for their food and left to confront them. Will not be back, and will encourage others to go somewhere else where they won't have to worry about being chastised for not...

We were looking forward to a nice dinner and my filet was a disappointment. Asking for it to be cooked medium, it came out more than done, not any pink whatsoever. The replacement was only slightly better. My husband enjoyed his salmon and the vegetables were nicely seasoned. The cherry bread pudding was also lackluster. The waitress did all she could to make it better by discounting the meal and not charging for the dessert. The atmosphere is pleasant, my only suggestion is to not order a steak.

Had dinner on a Friday night, it was pretty busy. Our server was very friendly and attentive. The main course did take a little long, However we had a nice view and good wine, so it wasn't that bad. I always say I'm willing to wait for good food. It didn't disappoint!! It was worth the wait. I had the salmon with lemon dill sauce and mashed potatoes. The salmon was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. Mashed potatoes also very good. I would definitely go back.

Really good food, almost five star. It's just that my wife is an amazing cook, and she has a better recipe for some of these dishes. A little pricey, but I expect it since running a restaurant today is very difficult. The ribeye steak was delicious but only a little better than Texas Roadhouse. (Maybe that tells you something about my lack of expertise in judging steaks, I don't know). Service was great. House salad and dressing was wonderful. Portions were modest.
