Tamarack is an experience! Great art work and lots of things to see. It isn't the boring old art gallery I thought it might be. Yes, they have lots of art and all for sale, but they have t-shirts, jewelery, ornaments, wood items, those really cool yard/garden metal flowers that are all the rage right now. The ones they have are heavy duty, not the flimsy things we've seen at flea markets. If you go, make sure to check out the all wood chain saw and the wooden ratchet and other tools! Those are TRUE works of art on par with the finest craftsmanship I've ever seen! They have several demonstration areas, unfortunately none were going when we were there. They have a glass blowing experience which was in operation. Make an appointment ahead of time! The line was too long to wait. We're going back for that. It starts at $55 and goes up depending on what you want to make. Very reasonable. Around here that experience runs $100 plus! And you can pickup your item the next day or they will ship it. Be prepared to pay a premium for any items you keave with. One bottle of grilling sauce was $12. But it is very good. We call it vacation grilling sauce to justify 3 times the price of a bottle of sauce. 😀 There were some items that were reasonably priced and some which cost as much as our house... almost. The aforementioned wooden chain saw for instance. But when you look at the work and detail that has gone into everything there, the prices are not outrageous. Tamarack does not disappoint! It is full of serious art as well as other cool stuff.
Their food service was good. Fair prices. My rueben was huge and tasted great. My wife's chicken sandwich was really good too. Great bun! Not quite great for the piece of steel they called a chicken breast. It was so tough (how tough was it?) - we thought they confused one of the metal sculptures with a chicken breast! Cutting it with a knife was very difficult - cutting it with a nlow torch might have been more appropriate. 😉 In all seriousness, it should have been taken back, but we were on our first leg of a long trip home. We're definitely going back. Just not ordering chicken. 😀 lol I wish we had a similar place in Ohio. It made me get out my paints when we got home. Not that I could sell anything at such a place, but a fella can dream as he plops paint on...

Read moreWe were back again and have made this a tradition. This year we had 6 we absolutely love John and we love coming back to take his class. John is an incredible man and a very talented artist, we just can't say enough about John. We all had such a blast, as usual and this is year 4 of continuing our tradition of glass blowing at Tamarack. I do wish the glass display was larger as it is always our intention to purchase many glass pieces to take with us but this year there wasn't too much to close from so we'll hope that next year we can buy some pieces to share with our friends and family. STILL A MUST DO IF YOUR IN THE AREA! We look forward to seeing you again next year!
Wow ! What a once in a lifetime experience it was learning to blow glass and make your own ornament. John was AMAZING! his passion for glass blowing his apparent from the moment you meet him, this is what he's meant to do and his love for his craft is seen in every piece he creates. There were 8 of us in our group and he took the time with each and every one of us to explain in detail his art. He's a fantastic teacher and was such an incredibly cool and down to earth person, we all enjoyed him personally as well as the experience. His apprentice Josh was also wonderful, he took the time to explain some processes and the science behind the art to us when we were waiting for others to finish, he will be an amazing artist one day, this is truly his calling. Thank you John and Josh for such a once in a lifetime experience and memories that we will all carry with us forever, we all have a beautiful work of art to forever remember you and this incredible experience. I cannot recommend this...
