After waiting the better part of 45 minutes for our pancakes, we finally get our food. It was rather bland and not what any of us were expecting. The best part is the checkout process. I understand the business model of paying at the cash register as opposed to having your waitress run the check. I mean seriously, how else are they supposed to sell you ginger snaps, triple fudge cream cakes, taffy, and double buttered chocolate chip cookies on the way out the door? The problem that I have is that if you are going to do this, make sure that you have more than enough people manning the registers to ensure a quick checkout. My wife, my friend, and I waited the better part of 10 minutes and the line had not moved one iota (there were still 7 families in front of us). Of course, we were in a hurry to get on the road and I believe we were more than patient. After another 5 minutes (15 minutes now), we could not wait any longer. My wife and I went to the car, my friend stayed behind to pay the check. Our bill was $22 and my friend went back to our table and left $40 with no expectation of change. As he was exiting, the waitress and manager chased my friend down and threatened him that they would call the police if he did not wait in line. He had to wait an additional 10 minutes for the line to get moving. Think of it this way, we had to wait nearly 30 minutes AFTER we were trying to leave to actually go. Needless to say, we will never be dinning at this "fine" establishment again. Furthermore, I have never seen so many morbidly obese people in my life. I guarantee you that this restaurant kills more people a year...
Read moreGreat place, excellent food, friendly staff This restaurant is located off Harper road in Beckley off the north side of the I-64 Harper road intersection. It is on the north side of Harper road behind the Country Inn and suites. As with most Cracker Barrell Restaurants, there is parking on at least 3 sides of this location with RV parking as you first enter to the east of the site. The front has rocking chairs along the porch. There is a gift shop as you first walk in. You check-in at the counter. We were seated quickly and they were not very busy. We had a seat by the window. The waitress was very pleasant and took our drink order within a minute of our being seated. She was very attentive and responsive throughout the meal. We were there for breakfast and I got the pancakes with bacon (and extra syrup) and a tea. My partner got an egg breakfast and we tried the Biscuit Beignets. The food came out quickly. The meals were very good but I was not a fan of the biscuit Beignets. Prices seemed a little higher than the Cracker barrel that I am used to. The price for a meal and drinks for the 2 of us was $27 before the tip. You pay at the counter in the gift shop with whatever other things you may have picked up in the shop. The person who checked us out was very pleasant and helpful. Overall, a very pleasant eating experience that I would recommend for my hungry...
Read moreThe food was edible. That's it though...just edible. The food was so bland it's hard to say it tasted terrible. We got the chicken tenders meal and country fried steak meal. The gravy on the steak and the mashed potatoes had NO flavor. The potatoes were bland as well and had a weird texture. The fries with the tenders were so greasy and had the texture of reheated fries from a microwave. The dumplings as a side were also bland but with some salt were OK. We also got the limited time seasoned corn on the cob...one side was seasoned thats it lol and the corn was mush, as if it were sitting under a light and not fresh. That's the food....the service wasn't great either. The waitress didn't have a cheerful attitude. She didn't give me the condements I had asked for. She gave us two sets of drinks each... basically so she didn't have to come back to the table. She only came right after we got our food and asked how it was and in the same sentence put down the check...not offering dessert? Coffee? Anything. Mind you...we chose not to complain AT ALL about our food (even though we should have). We just wanted to eat and get back on the road. But we were SO disappointed. Worst cracker barrel we have...
