This one is a little tough to review because I love it so much but they are lacking in most areas!
I give it a 5 star for taste. I forget how many but an entire huge page of wing flavors, most are excellent from Cherry Pie to Hell's Bells to Mac n Cheese. Lots of unique flavors and lots of combinations to try. Lots of fried food. Amazing hidden deserts that are never advertised, they're like something out of a magazine with flavor and presentation. They've been featured on many food channels and websites! They definitely have a hidden gem. I eat wings literally everyday and travel all over the world and Boneheads is my favorite wings and always look forward in going! I have been coming here at least once a week for years. At one point for 3 years I came almost every day for lunch with a different group of people every time. Often would have groups of over 10 people.
As for environment, it's nice, most of the times the TV's match the music. Most of the booths are falling apart from when they got them free off of Craigslist years ago. I watched one lady fall over when the back portion let go and she fell on the ground. The booth by the window in the corner has no bottom cushion so you're sitting on the wood structure and have been for a few years. ALWAYS black flies everywhere in the summer landing on your food, your drink, your face, the windows, etc. There's usually something going on in the evenings for entertainment which is fun, music trivia, etc. The bathrooms are terrible, always dirty, holes in the walls, floors always wet, smells. There's usually a wait during the evenings since they're so popular and tasty.
Service is a complete hit or miss. I have been coming here since they opened I think over 5 or 6 years ago. There once was a time I ate lunch everyday. I've had parties here, etc. Sometimes we've waited 4 hours to receive our food and have had an entire bill of over $1k paid for due to the ridiculous wait times, I have pictures with time stamps to prove. Kylee, Courtney, Jo were always on the ball. It seems to be a bit of a revolving door for wait staff since they opened. Within the past 2 years or so it's been consistent with a comparable wait time to receive food which is nice.
Cost is average. However cost for taste is perfect. They have wing deals throughout the weeks, discount for the 25 wing trays on Wednesdays and for the boneless 25 wing trays on Thursdays. I much rather pay for these wings because you always know they are excellent and they're really good if anything is wrong or not to your liking they will take care of it without any issue. It's nice you can order all flats or drums as well. They do charge for every side sauce, sometimes can add up. Drinks are comparable priced too, wish they had Coke instead of Pepsi though!
I hope you enjoy my pics, I uploaded 95 out of 692 pictures I have throughout my time...
Read moreInexplicably, Boneheads is perhaps the world's first "heavy metal" chicken wing bar.
I came here on a Wednesday at around 7:30pm and waited an hour to get a seat at the bar, as no tables became available for me during that time due to the long list of people like me who were also "boneheaded" enough to wait an hour for chicken wings. In short, I don't recommend coming here on Wednesday. I'm told this is their craziest day because they sell the wings at $.04 each or whatever.
The wings themselves are decent. At the risk of damning with faint praise: they're better than the offerings of Buffalo Wild Wings and Hooters. No breading at Boneheads, just as they ought to be. Skin is adequately crunchy, even as the wings themselves are on the small side in terms of chicken meat. I'm a traditionalist and I went to college in upstate New York, so the idea of tossing wings in Mac & Cheese sauce, or some of the other suggested sauce pairings, I found personally offensive. I stuck with the "Hot for Teacher," Bonehead's traditional hot buffalo sauce - which is a vinegar-y sauce in the Frank's Red Hot-mixed-with-butter way.
Again, Boneheads' wings are above average and better than chain restaurant wings. However, to be a restaurant that specializes in "hair band" décor and wings, I expect a bit better - even if I don't know what that is exactly. Wendell's in nearby Norton, MA GETS it in a way these guys do not. Also, as I noted to a bar-mate, I could have driven the 30 miles or so to Wendell's, ordered and eaten an order of wings, and driven back to Warwick in the time it took for Boneheads to seat me and take my order. Traditional accompaniments like Celery, Blue Cheese Dip, Ranch Dressing, and so on are extra. Another thing that rubbed me the wrong way.
I also ordered the "Loaded Nachos" here, which are corn tortilla chips smothered with Monterey Jack and cheddar cheese, then sprinkled with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, olives, jalapeños, and then hit with optional beef chili. The nachos were decent, with the right proportion of toppings. I'd say Boneheads does "pub nachos" better than they do wings.
As someone who grew up in the 1980s and rued the death of the guitar solo, I'm as big of a fan of hair bands and "dad rock" as the next guy, but the décor here just doesn't work for me. Buffalo wings really have nothing to do with hard rock music. These are two distinct and disparate concepts, both of which I like, but to try to bring them together in this way seems......
Read moreI love this place I go here with my girlfriend, my friends, recommended my whole family to try the place, and once a month I try to go here with my grandpa. He likes it too we go for lunch when the crowd is not busy and more laid back. The place is all about rock and roll and has music videos and sports games playing all of the time. They say judge the kitchen by the bathroom and they are pretty dirty, so I would rather not like to think about the kitchen. It looks clean when you walk by to go to the bathroom, but you only get a glance walking by. At dinner time the crowd can be a little rough and service may take a bit YOU WILL BE WAITING! BUT THESE WINGS ARE WORTH IT! This is also another reason to go for lunch as there is little to no wait times. The servers are always friendly and my grandpa is usually grumpy so god bless them for having to deal with that.
The wings here are the best the flavors are awesome, even the crazy flavors like the PB&J are worth to at least try once. The prices are about equal to their competitors maybe a buck more, but you get what you pay for. Country Roads and Yellow Submarine are my go to choices while my grandpa likes the Sweet Home Alabama. Country Roads is hotter then what the menu leads you to believe and I think they just update their menu's at the beginning of the summer. I have had hotter options on the menu and they do not seem to have as much kick as the country roads. My only complaint I have with the flavors is I want something with a little kick, but I am not a fan of buffalo sauce and there are not a lot of options for a hot BBQ or a hot Honey Mustard.
I would recommend this place to anyone and this place blows their competitors out of the water as far as taste and quality goes.
Pros: Great Food Great Service Not way overpriced
Cons: Long waits for Dinner time Questionable Cleanliness Needs more Spicy Flavors besides...
