Very unpleasantly surprised numerous times with what the wait staff 'accepted'. 1) The floors were filthy. We moved tables. When asked why, I said politely because the floor under the table we sat at initially was covered with food, and was just too dirty to sit at (hint hint). Unfortunately i have no pics of that floor, b/c a guy was then seated at that table without them cleaning the table properly or the floor at all, and that guy had open-foot sandals on...yuck. The waitress responded to me by saying "oh that must've been a table with kids", but she took zero action to clean up any further. Unacceptable. That table had a sticky coffee ring on the table too, near the utensils wrapped in a napkin. 2) Then a group sat at yet another adjacent table. They were missing utensils and the waitress grabbed the utensils from the other table with the filthy floors and sticky coffee ring and gave it to them... from a dirty table with filthy floors. Poor, poor, poor. 3) At yet another table, a 4th table, a senior citizen female customer knocked over her full drink. She was not terribly agile or mobile, which was evident. The same waitress got those patrons a wet rag after about 5-10 minutes and let THEM clean up after themselves. The seat, the table, the floor under the table, the window sill... No consideration given to the age of the patron and how difficult that was for her to bend, reach, stretch, and clean up after her own mistake. Unacceptable. Take care of your patrons. Total lack of awareness of mobility challenges of the patron. Clean up after a patron when they clearly need help. They were done, except for paying and the cleaning. The waitress should've said she would do that... they were embarrassed enough, then had to struggle in front of other patrons...I wanted to help but didn't want to make them feel even worse. 4) the walking aisles were dirty, too. Stains, dirt, grime spots throughout. Not sure if the pics will convey it. 5) No, the place was not that busy at all (40% occupancy?). Cleaning was simply not high on the staff's list. Tables that were wiped down were wiped only partially - as evidenced by the coffee ring left behind. 6) if it wasn't for the friendly, yet blissfully oblivious nature of the waitress we had, and the fact that the food was decent enough, this review would be much more scathing than it is, rather than simply providing these observations. Advice to owner: Please train/retrain your staff on each these points, and general awareness. Good luck to you - I wish you the best. I will not be returning. I hope this was just an off-day. Edit: thanks to the owner for a quick response to my post. This place gets high marks from most patrons. I can allow for mistakes, but that was too many for me in my only experience there. Our waitress was very pleasant. I thought she might've been new. This review is more a reflection of the other staff not supporting her adequately, not cleaning the floors frequently enough, and/or training or oversight not being adequate to support integrating a new employee. I don't put the floor on the waitress in terms of sole responsibility. I put that on the entire staff. Anyone could've addressed it that day. Maybe it was just an off day. Good luck. I'm sure you'll correct this. I do believe that. Personally though, I don't expect to be back. Best wishes to Gel's. I gave a 2nd star for service for the follow up.

This was our first time here. We hadn't realized we arrived within 15 minutes of closing time, but were served just as well. The server notified us because she didn't want the kitchen to turn off equipment that was needed to cook or meals, which was really considerate. We all really enjoyed our meals, mine being the broccoli and cheese omelet with hash browns and whear toast. The omelet was full of brocolli and a bit creamy with the cheese. The hash browns were buttery and crisp. We will definitely be returning, prior to closing time ;)

Gel's has both excellent food and service. They are very consistent with their food each time you come. Every waiter/waitress you get is friendly and provides great service. Even when there is a wait, the line moves pretty fast. Their omelets are the best!! I highly recommend them!!

We stopped in on a Sunday morning in West Warwick expecting to wait in line. We waited all of maybe 4 mins! Our server was Rhi and she was attentive and pleasant! The food was delicious and we had huge portions. I had the Avocado Benedict which came with poached egg over a bed of spinach on a delicious biscuit (not soggy), sliced avocado, bacon, hollandaise sauce and a sprinkle of feta cheese and served with home fries perfectly cooked. The combination was unexpectedly awesome! My wife had the Meat Lovers omelet which was stuffed with sausage, bacon and ham served with homefries and toast. Both meals were a culinary delight!! The atmosphere was lively and fun decor perfectly suit for this type of restaurant. The staff were friendly and happy! Other customers appeared happy! The menu had lots to choose from and prices were reasonable for the amount of food served. We would highly recommend this establishment and plan on...

I have always been a fan of Gel’s and her food and staff. The food is always consistent and reasonably priced. One of the only places that I know of that gives you three eggs versus two. Anyway, I had previously purchased Gel’s Dutch Apple and Blueberry pies and they were both fantastic! However, yesterday one of the wait staff “Hat” was in a contest to get her shirts made and she had one more Pork pie left to sell to win the co test. Needless to say the old softly that I am I bought the pie. Gel had been telling me how I had to try them and boy was she right! This is by far the best pork pie I have ever eaten! Beautifully seasoned, moist and delicious with a crust that was to die for. If you’re ever in need of any type of pie, Gel’s has got...
