Profenno's Pizzeria & Pub — Restaurant in Westbrook

This is by far one of the last true local gems in the Greater Portland Area for traditional Italian/American takeout food. Best non thin crust pizza in the area and top 3 non specialty pizza anyway you look at it. Ordering small pizza is worth the added cost. All of the food has fresh vegetables and enormous portions that make almost everything a two meal occasion. This is one of the few places that all 5 members of my family can find something that they enjoy. I have never been disappointed by the food or the welcoming attitude of the staff. PLEASE NOTE : THIS REVIEW IS IN REFERENCE TO TAKE OUT FOOD ONLY. I HAVE NOT BEEN TO THE BAR AND AS A RESULT CAN NOT COMMENT. Elizabeth and I were vacationing in Maine for a week. I grew up in Westbrook, Maine. Elizabeth had had recent dental surgery and chewing food was not possible. She hadn't had a decent meal, other than soup, for 2-3 weeks. She tried the Fettuccini Alfredo and swooned over the soft chewable noodles and flavor. We went back five or six times for lunches and dinners. Every meal I had which included meatball sandwiches, Pastrami sandwiches, Italian sandwiches, spaghettis and meatballs was so tasty, delicious, and filling.

This is the second time we have eaten at Profenno's. One time we ate in and this time we ordered two pizzas Togo. The first time we ordered a Buffalo pizza and it was incredibly greasy. Its buffalo pizza so we passed it off as a greasy pie due to ingredients and expected a bit of a mess. With that being said we were willing to give the place a second chance. However...the two pizzas we ordered tonight, a Tuesday night were quoted 40min for two pies. We opened when we got home and the center of the cheese pizza was burned from the bottom.
