We had such a great time at Kimball Farm in Westford! You can really tell they’ve thought through every detail to make the experience smooth and enjoyable for families.
The food area was impressively well-organized, with separate windows for ordering and pickup, plus a speaker system that clearly announces when your order is ready and exactly where to go. The outdoor food tents were fully stocked with everything you could need—ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, utensils, napkins, salt and pepper packets, to-go containers, and even hand wipes. Staff were always nearby cleaning tables and making sure the area stayed neat, and large fans helped keep it breezy and comfortable, even on a warm day.
A fun bonus: they have misting “refresh stations” you can walk under—perfect for cooling off during the summer heat! Such a thoughtful touch that kids and adults alike will appreciate.
Restrooms were easy to find and conveniently located near every major area, which was great with kids in tow. We also appreciated the water refill stations—another smart, family-friendly feature. Staff were visible and helpful throughout the property, and everything felt very well maintained.
Activity-wise, we tried the bumper cars (our 5-year-old nephew’s favorite—he couldn’t get enough), mini golf (our 2-year-old nephew loved just being on the course and exploring), and the bumper boats—which were our favorite! So much fun, even though our long legs (we’re 6’–6’4”) stuck out a bit in the boats. It didn’t take away from the experience at all—it was a blast! We didn’t get a chance to try the zip line or arcade, but they looked great and will be on our list for next time.
Food was reasonably priced and genuinely good—we had the clam strips and potato salad, and both were delicious. The portions were generous too, which is always a bonus.
All in all, Kimball Farm is an awesome day trip for families. Tons to do, everything well run, and clearly designed with comfort and fun in mind. We’ll definitely be...
Read morethis is a New England icon! anybody who's ever lived in New England knows about Kimball farm creamery. they've been in business for decades now and have expanded to be a theme park in their own little way. they have a little volleyball court they have tents set up for parties they have a petting zoo they have miniature golf but what I like the most is they're driving range. (golf). and the reason I like it is because they have distance cameras at each driving stall. once you pay for your bucket of balls (and rented a club which is a $2 extra charge), you find the stall that you want to be driving from and you will see a very obvious tall structure which is housing a camera. The camera measures the distance that you've driven the ball The rate or speed of which the ball is flying and a few more tidbits of information which I'm forgetting at the moment. but of course if you're driving and you want another distance of your drive these cameras are exactly what you need!! I had a rented piece of junk club that was all mangled. It was a driver and I was driving the ball, 'again, range balls which have been beat up for years, at least 200/250 yards! (which for me is pretty good to say at any time especially when I'm holding on to a basically junk driver and hitting off of a rubber tee at a range!!😂) and last but definitely not least which is their ice cream stand. which has a wide variety of flavors to choose from in the ice cream department as well as a few assorted sorbets and I want to say yogurts as well, frozen yogurts. on another positive note there's plenty of staff at least during the summertime so if you need to ask a question feel free to call them up somebody will answer you quickly and get you the right answer. just be aware of that if you go on a weekend or a holiday you should be prepared to wait in lines because this is a very highly trafficked destination. there is a dirt parking lot across the main road from the front entrance of the "farm- park" I...
Read moreKimball's is an iconic destination for my family. My grandparents used to live 10 minutes away and if we were very good and got ready for bed without a fuss we would occasionally go on "pajama runs" to get ice cream at Kimballs in the big old station wagon. It was a big deal. Back then it was hugely fun to eat the ice cream and then go feed the cows that gave the cream in the pasture behind the barn (seriously).
We still have family in the area and a family owned property that we go to just about once a year. Every time we're in the area, we go to Kimballs at least once. The ice cream is still good, the portions used to be GINORMOUS - they aren't so huge anymore (and it's pretty expensive) which is a bit disappointing - never being able to finish ones ice cream no matter what size one ordered was part of the Kimball's experience that has been lost.
These days while we still go get ice cream it has come to be wildly over built with lots of non-ice cream stuff. It's been sad to see that over the last twenty years they replaced cows in the back field with stores, restaurants, mini golf etc. All tacky, unnecessary cash grabbing distractions. What used to be a sweet family tradition is now a freaking carnival. The back pasture gave it a real farm to table feel which was very special but has been very much lost (I'm not sure where the cream comes from these days). If it wasnt already a family tradition to go, we would probably skip it (if I'm being honest).
I gave the food four stars because the ice cream is good - I'm not sure I'd say it's different from say Breyers but it's fine, I have never eaten the other food (it feels sacrilegious to me).
If you're in the area, it's definitely worth stopping at this iconic destination but if you are going looking for the old Kimball's, you will be...
