Bamboo Garden — Restaurant in Westland

A few weeks ago me and my boyfriend where looking for a new Chinese restaurant to eat at and I of course turned to yelp to help me find a place that had a good rating. My boyfriend really likes hot and sour soup so that is something I was looking for while reading reviews and this place had a stellar rating and best yet a lot of reviewers where raving about their hot and sour soup.

Me and my boyfriend showed up to eat the following afternoon for lunch, He had the general Tso's Chicken with the crab rangoon (lunch and dinners come with your choice of crab rangoon or an egg roll and select soups) and I got the Almond chicken with the crab rangoon with a spicy california roll as a type of appetizer for me and my boyfriend to share.

The Sushi was the highlight of my experience I really enjoyed it and kind of stole the show for me a little, the hot and sour soup was on point and flavorful, the chicken was ok nothing out of the ordinary in my opinion but made me excited to come back again to try another item on the menu. The staff where friendly and attentive to our needs and checked in with us often to make sure we did not need anything.

Food was good but service not so great. My daughter wanted sushi for her bday. I called in the order and it was quite large, as we were being adventurous and feeding 4. $85 order! The taker on the phone didn't repeat the order back and I should have considered that a warning sign and insisted on them reviewing. My bad. Hubby picked up the order and we were missing several items. Tried calling and got a busy signal 4 times. He drove back and they argued that 2 appetizer items were packed in with other combo plates which doesn't make sense and wasn't true. They claimed the other 2 missing items were never ordered. Also untrue. The girl who took the order asked what type of roll I wanted so she definitely heard me ask for it. Hubby ended up paying for 2 Items we'd already paid for to get the order completed. For $85 order, it seems they'd double check their order and want to please the customer instead of arguing. I won't bother going back although my sushi loving daughter is eager to try more. So first, we have been regular customers here for at least 5 years. Has it ever been 5 stars? No but it has always been good for the price and hit the spot. However, I don't know what has changed over the last few months but its just awful now. You can no longer dine in either. The last time we got carryout it wasn't great but every place has a off day now and then. Tonight, we have decided we will not be ordering there anymore. We spent $65 on some of the most inedible food. The gravy and sweet and sour sauce were rancid. I specifically asked for no pineapple on the chicken and it was the only thing on the chicken. The wonton soup tasted like it was made a week ago. The almond chicken was caked in thick batter and soggy. The batter was thicker than the chicken! The gravy was disgusting. The sweet and sour chicken tasted like fish. And of course when I tried to call they were closed already. I refused to allow my family to eat the rest of the meal as I was scared they would get sick!
