I like the atmosphere, but that's about it. They really need to redo their menus to make them less contradictory, including updating their website with their current prices. Particularly, the breakfast menu pricing is quite confusing. Aside from the poorly organized menu and not at all synchronized online menu, the food was a bit disappointing. The portions were incredibly small, much smaller than most all other diner/restaurant breakfasts we've been to. It was about on par with the IHOP at Ford rd and Telegraph in Dearborn Heights. Very little hash browns, and they weren't even hot. None of the food was hot, and it was rather dried out, which, as someone who was a server at an Olive Garden for quite some time, this indicates food that's been cooked, and has been left up on the counter, just waiting to get expedited to the table.
In regards to the menu pricing, online on their own website it states the 2 egg special is $5.79. However, inside the restaurant on the menu under "Daily Specials" it states Mon-Fri, the 2 egg special below it states 2 separate prices, $6 and $7, both penciled in over white-out, with no indication of what each is for. Then, below that it states Saturday and Sunday 8-1pm (if I remember correctly), then further down on the same page it states the 2 egg special is $8 or $9. We were expecting to go in, order 4 2 egg specials for just under $25, and our bill ended up being $40.
Additionally, when we were ordering, we pointed to the 1st 2 egg special at the top, which includes coffee and toast, and when ordering our meals that's exactly how we stated it, how it is on the menu there. If that one was not available, even though below it it states Saturday & Sunday 8/9 - 1pm, the waitress should have clarified at that time. The other 2 egg special does not include coffee or toast.
When we went to pay, we weren't trying to get the bill's total lowered at all, we were simply trying to explain how this is very unclear and contradictory, and this could have been avoided had the waitress clarified, or, you know, if the menu was actually clear. The one woman was pretty cordial about it but another woman popped in, rudely and loudly berating that "iTs On tHe mEnU!!" - yeah, there's 3 different prices on the physical menu, another price on the online menu, and 2 separate time frames. If they can't see how this is ridiculously unorganized, I don't know how else to say it.
Additionally, I have severe dyslexia, so this level of disorganization like this is extremely difficult for me to even wrap my head around.
I understand Covid made things tough on all of us, and the inflation we have has really made a negative impact on supply costs, and is why the price of this specific menu item has literally doubled from $3.99 to $8 or $9, but when you have 4 separate prices for the same thing between your physical menu and online menu, and your physical menu has white-out with different prices penciled in over it, its time to do your business and customers a favor and get new menus made, and upload the new menu to...
Read moreUnfriendly and run-down atmosphere, bottom-of-the-barrel culinary quality, and downright unsafe eating! The management publicly shamed us in front of the other customers for heartedly eating our soup in their all-you-can-eat lunch special. The manager, who was then visibly distressed, announced loudly within earshot of the other customers that the number of bowls we had eaten was too much on the grounds that they were struggling from COVID-19.
A kind word of counsel: If you are stuck between a financial rock and a hard place, kindly air those concerns privately and respectfully. Also strongly consider revising your menu options, such as eliminating your all-you-can-eat option, until you have regained your economic footing. Do not humiliate people for availing your advertised endless dining option. As it is, we will be taking our business elsewhere for these and many other reasons, which include:
The first serving of rolls was extremely tough and dried out like sea biscuits. Presumably, the rolls were at least a day old if not older by the looks of them. Three out of the four soups on the menu (stuffed pepper, chicken noodle, and cream of potato) were extremely light in herbs and spices in their seasoning. This is an obvious sign of the extreme cost cutting measures the management has taken and the associated resulting drop in their food quality. They carelessly keep their glass cleaner spray bottle just inches away from the soup, on the same counter of the food service station where soup is put out and actively served. This presents a serious health risk and a blatant food safety violation. The waitresses serve the soup for you in lieu of you going up to serve yourself, presumably to prevent cross contamination. However, it is nonsensical and makes no difference because the waitresses themselves do not wear changeable gloves and wash their hands between serving different parties. Putting two and two together, they might as well have clients serve themselves because they are cross contaminating anyway.
On the topic of the glass cleaner, I surely hope they do not spray the glass cleaner on the sneeze guards or around the food service station, which would also be another food safety violation. Whenever I have seen restaurants get careless like this with their cleaning products including glass cleaner or cleaning detergent and place them on or near food items, I have also seen people unavoidably get seriously ill or even hospitalized from the contamination.
My final assessment:...
Read moreThey have good food but the owner just ruined the whole experience and we wont be going back. Our bill was 55$ for 4 ppl and when we went to check out they added 20$!! To our check for two little take home soups and the rolls we didnt finish eating. And we all ordered the all you can eat soup bar. It was just ridiculous. So our bill was 76$ plus the tip. They are petty and rude. The waitress was embarrassed that she was told to charge us extra. Just had to share. If you do go and get the soup bar make sure you fill a bowl up, take it to your table first, then take a bite and then put it in a take home container. And if you fill the take home container at the soup bar you will get charged 6 dollars extra even if you already paid for the soup bar. So petty. Ide understand if only one person ordered the soup bar and feed every one at the table soup or if you already had 5 bowls but it's suppose to be all you can eat. Now i know why the place was empty.
