I have had the pleasure of dining at Angler Fish Market & Chowder on multiple occasions, and each experience has been nothing short of delightful. It's become my go-to destination for seafood in the city. Their Wednesday special of $1 raw oysters is an unmissable deal, though it's sad to note that the $1 shrimp cocktail is no longer on the menu. However, even at its regular price of $24 a dozen, their shrimp cocktail remains a compelling offering. The shrimp are exquisitely prepared—crunchy yet chewy, offering that ideal textural balance seafood aficionados yearn for.
But let's not forget the Lobster Alfredo—a masterclass in moderation. The light, creamy cheese sauce is beautifully balanced, allowing the flavors to shine without overwhelming the palate. Served with garlic toast for dipping, this dish offers a delightful pause, allowing your taste buds to reset and prepare for the next gastronomic adventure.
The Pesto Shrimp and Scallop with linguine is another standout. The Pesto Genovese sauce serves as a light, creamy backdrop, accentuating the natural flavors of the perfectly cooked scallops and crunchy shrimp. It's a harmonious blend of ingredients that coalesce into a truly unforgettable dining experience.
Lastly, their Fried Calamari with a spicy twist offered a sweet and spicy flavor profile that was interesting, albeit not my personal preference. Next time, I'll opt for the regular version to better suit my taste.
In summary, Angler Fish Market & Chowder is a culinary gem, offering a diverse range of seafood dishes that are consistently well-executed and reasonably priced. It's a place that not only meets expectations but often exceeds them, providing a dining experience that keeps me coming back for more. Also all servers were so friendly! Will...
Read moreGreat small place with absolutely amazing food but I cant give a full five stars because a woman who was working back of the house (I believe she was the owner or supervisor) based on how she spoke down to and rudely to the service staff. My husband and I came in for dinner last night and sat at the bar. This particular evening was very busy for the waitstaff that consisted of 2. Its a small place with a short window of operation but its still a lot of work for 2 people. They were hosting, cleaning/bussing, bartending, taking to go orders, expoditing, and serving everyone. We had our finished plates in front of us empty for a little while, which wasnt a big deal considering it was so busy. Suddenly, the woman steps away from her fry station and says to the server that us and another guest had there plates empty in front of them for over 10 minutes now and to take care of the plates right in front of us. First of all, if you have the time to be aware of this and have the time to scold a hard working employee in front of the guests then you would have time to prebus yourself. Secondly, its unprofessional and no way to treat employees. Working together as a team is something this person can work on. Im in the hospitality buisness and I would not want to work for someone who will embarrass and belittle you in front of guests. I will say there is a lot of potential for a 5 stars just take into consideration of treating your dedicated employees with respect and work on becoming a team. She could have simply introduced herself as the owner, apologize for the plates and clear them away. In order to be successful in hospitality and customer service you need to be a people person and a front of the house helper. Cant stand in the back and just...
Read moreThe Angler was high on the list to try as central MA needs good seafood dining options. I'd rate it, "GOOD" overall. Service and atmosphere were great. The place was full and they hustled. So, kudos to the staff. Taking a strip mall type environment and making you feel like you're sitting near the water, also impressive. So, credit to the management for that. I saw some other reviews and the management's response and that triggered me to chime in to maybe offer some thoughts. We too thought the pricing was a bit steep. We are in the middle of a self toured lobster roll crawl and this one was the priciest yet. I get the cost of everything is going up. By choosing to go out to eat, I understand that I must accept that. Was just a little surprised by the argument that their market price was the same as others. I found it to be higher. With that, my lobster was slightly overdone. Like I said, and I'll stress, still good. But, had that rubbery texture when it was just cooked too long. We also did feel it had a bit too much butter. Again, seeing the other reviews defending pricing etc, my argument is if you want to charge what my experience showed as high-end of "market" prices, then serve that exceptional type quality. Was it inedible? Of course not! Therefore, no complaint was lodged nor do I feel like this review is a "poor" one. Just maybe a, "hey, these other reviews may not be without merit." I would go back as I saw other dishes I'd like to try and I'm confident I'll have an equally good or better experience. Again, credit to service and management staff for offering a place to go in central MA that is so...
