Graphic TV Warning!!!
I'm so very sad to be changing the rating of this restaurant as I was very pleased to welcome a new business to Westminster. But, I simply cannot recommend an eating establishment that plays graphic material on it's televisions. After recommending El Charro to my family I received the Extremely disappointing news that the "Rodeo shows" on the T.V.s were showing such gorey material that my people could not finish their meals!!
Please consider the stomachs of your patrons when choosing what is shown on the televisions. I cannot say any of us will be back any time soon due to the bloody and graphic nature of the subject shown. A real shame; I have left my original review and it shows that the food is quite good. We will go back to Puerto Nuevo for the time being.
Very good, unique Mexican fare. Gives Puerto Nuevo a good run for their money (we love Puerto Nuevo, so that's a definite compliment.) We loved the salsa bar and next time we'll try the guacamole, made to order at your table. The staff was very attentive and the spaces were clean. The country -western theming is pretty spot on for Westminster if not my particular style personally.
We hope this place does well. We are happy to have another good sit-down restaurant in...
Read moreWas heading back from Cherokee and driving through Westminster, SC. Needed a bite and found El Charro. Clean, friendly, and nice atmosphere. The decor is Western themed -- bull horns, cow skulls, saddle, and spurs, etc. Lights that resemble lasso ropes were very cool.
I saw a photo of a Margherita on their info site and was disappointed when ordering a Corona Light and a shot of tequila only to learn they were in the process of renewing their lapsed alcohol license.
I ordered a Chicken Enchilada w/ Red Sauce and Beef Tostada Combo. Gotta tell you, they were GOOD. The beef was not minced, like in some restaurants, it was like home when browning hamburger -- same for the chicken, not finely shredded, but pulled chicken in big chunks. The Salsa Wagon had many selections -- I went for a Blanco Creamy Salsa and Tomatillo. De-lish.
One feature I found a bit lacking was the air conditioning. It was 92 outside, and AC seemed to be struggling; however, the ceiling fans did a good job of moving the breeze.
Overall, really happy I stopped at El Charro and hope you will...
Read moreWe are new to the area and are so excited that we have found our favorite local family owned Mexican Grill. Easily accessible on Main Street Westminster with plenty of parking. Inside is roomy and can accommodate small and large families. Fast and friendly service. Our waiter was the son of the owners. He made a mean margarita and delicious fresh guacamole to order. The menu has lots of variety with both dinners, combinations and à la cart options. We were impressed with the many protein and vegetarian options. We did not have room for dessert but plan to try next time. There was a TV over the front door showing a rodeo and unfortunately my husband had taken the seat facing the screen. Next time I will know better! We will definitely recommend to our family and friends....
