Everyone has heard of Bun Bo Hue, but have you heard about Bun Bo Nam? Well, Vua Bun Bo offers both. Just a brief lesson: Hue is a northern city in Vietnam, where the dish originated. Hence, why we call the dish bun bo Hue. Vua Bun Bo introduces you to both the southern and northern versions of this dish - “Bun Bo Nam” and “Bun Bo Bac,” literally translated as Southern beef noodle soup and Northern Beef soup. They have different topping variations such as beef flank or pork blood cake, but also a very similar spicy broth. I love coming here to try those different toppings, especially their homemade pork loaf. The soup is spicy and quite rich, so don't expect your usual pho. You can opt for a large bowl if you're a big eater like me; if not, a small bowl will suffice. There are so many variations of noodle soups, and we have only scratched the surface. Vua Bun Bo, while small, opens the doors for my family and me to try the different soup variations in my culture. I can't wait to come back again to enjoy the rest...

We ordered one small bowl of Bún Bò Huế (spicy beef pork noodle soup) and one small bowl of Bún Bò Nam (Southern style beef noodle soup). Both bowls were big; each is a meal in itself.
Both bowls had the same flavorful broth and same noodle. The only difference that I could tell was the type of meat. While both bowls had slice of tender beef, the Bún Bò Huế includes a slice of pork leg, a slice of pork roll and pork blood pudding. Both bowls were good, satisfying and served steamy hot.
The extra beef marrow was buttery and creamy, but very fatty.
The Vietnamese coffee with sweetened condensed milk was way too sweet for me. It simply had too much of sweetened condensed milk. I could not taste the coffee.

Read moreThe beef soup (Bun Bo) tasted so bad. It was below average to me. I was wondering why this restaurant has high rate for Bun Bo. Moreover, the cashier over charged me. I ordered 2 small bowls of its original bun bo ($13.50 each), 1 iced tea of $1.50, and 1 ice water (free). The total was about $31 ($28.50 + tax), but the young female asked me to pay $35. Charging a few dollars more meant nothing to me, but I don’t like the dishonesty. She was also the one who took my order, and her attitude was not friendly at all. I regretted eating at this place since the food tasted sooo bad. It wasted my calories. I will never come back here. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. ALSO, PLEASE BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU PAY IF...
