HORRIFIC!! Full head of hair damage for a root touch up! LITERALLY DIAGONAL HAIRCUT WHEN I ASKED FOR A STANDARD V-SHAPE! I went in before my graduation photos asking for a simple ashy blonde root touch-up and a tiny trim. Photo 1 shows my hair before — healthy with subtle ashy highlights. After the first appointment (Photo 2, curled from the back), it looked okay until I saw the front (Photo 3) — the entire top was bright light blonde, not ashy. The stylist only then admitted he had been working there for 3 months and told me to “flip my hair over” to make it look darker. My hair is chemically fragile, yet he lifted it several shades lighter without asking me at all. Just walking out of the salon, I felt like my hair was extremely fried. THIS SALON NEVER BOTHERED TO DO A STRAND TEST, OR ANYTHING A REPUTABLE STYLIST WOULD CHECK FIRST. This salon falls FAR below any that I've ever visited.
I also asked for a V-shape cut with long layers and curtain bangs, but the cut was uneven and flat. Once the curls fell, I noticed the left side was shorter than the right, but at first, I went back only to correct the overly blonde front. A second stylist toned a few strands darker, but a few hours later, I realized the length difference was very noticeable, so I went back again. A woman straightened my hair and showed me a before picture of the first cut (Photo 4) — it wasn’t just not a V-shape, it was slanted diagonally. She cleaned it up slightly (Photo 5), but the ends were now blunt like safety-scissor chops. I made the mistake of returning again to fix the bluntness. The original stylist approached me to redo it — I refused. Another stylist said he’d have to cut a super high layer to fix it. I repeated “long layers, V-shape, curtain bangs.” Instead, he chopped more hair off and still left a tiny tail (Photo 6), plus random short pieces now stick out whenever I push my hair back. The highlights are still patchy and some roots were never even touched, making the touch-up pointless.
To top it off, the salon was boiling hot with no AC every visit. I’ve now wasted an entire weekend panicking, researching extensions and corrective stylists just to undo the damage. The one saving grace is that my boyfriend insisted on paying with card — a chargeback is coming!! I've been crashing out all week. Those crazy short ends he cut of the V-shape will take at least a year to grow back, and not to mention my hair is so unhealthy ATP. Save yourself the emotional and literal cost. Avoid Hair Desire Head Spa.
Edit:
Here’s the current back of my head AFTER 4 trips back to this salon that my friend noticed when I went to another place for a corrective haircut. I STILL have a dent in my hair when I finally went to another salon in Irvine for a correction. No one in this salon bothered to point this out and fix it. It was a $180 root touch up, not cheap by any means.
The fact that they think I'll go back AGAIN for a resolution is insane to me. I've worked w/ basically every stylist at their salon ATP and my hair is in such a horrific, damaged, unrecoverable. I would pay to NEVER have any stylist in this salon near...
Read moreDO NOT recommend for english speakers. Miscommunication ended up with an unnecessary bleach job. My experience was:
hair dresser got upset whenever I asked questions about the process & my hair. Threw a towel down at one point. bleach mix crumbs fell down in my chair, my clothes dresser said bad things about another race I requested my old bleached ends to match my black roots (3in long). She started bleaching my virgin hair and when I asked why, she explained it’s to match my old hair to have a uniform color dye experience. She misunderstood that i wanted my virgin hair to match my old orange ends. hair dresser did not check on the bleach for a while so I called her to check my hair. Immediately took me to a wash. she was about to do a 2nd bleach job then found out we understood different colors I asked for a color match to my natural brownish black hair but was given the blackest shade (literally #1 black). I even pointed to the color I want in her dye book before dresser trimmed my hair without setting a straight hair split dresser was angry with me for not speaking “easy english” and not being clear...
