Either the place has new management or owners but my last visit here was off-putting to say the least. First off when we sat down, the table reeked from the smell of being wiped down with a dirty and nasty mildew filled rag. The place in general looked fine, modern and "clean". We didn't watch anyone clean our table and it was dry and "clean" already but there's no mistaking the smell of a foul and filthy rag which left its odors lingering on our table. That should have alarmed us enough to run for the hills but I've eaten here once before and enjoyed their pho and drinks so we stuck around and used my own sanitizing wipes to wipe down again. It has been awhile since I've been here and I felt their menu was different which lead me to believe something changed about the place. I recall there was some kind of pho lover's named drink before and it was nowhere to be found. I ordered the green apple tea instead and it was fine. The pho was fine too along with the eggrolls we ordered. However something wasn't kosher and I had to rush home to use the bathroom. I should have trusted my instincts that any business that uses dirty rags to clean off tables probably doesn't practice sanitary habits to wash raw vegetables, prep food, or wash dishes. There's no telling what food was contaminated but be warned that until this place employs better cleaning practices that are evident from the moment you sit down there's a chance you will end up with tummy issues from...
Read moreThis pho eatery is in the middle of Little Saigon so weekends during peak hours like mornings and lunch will be challenging to navigate and find parking. Weekday mornings is the best time to go with no crowds and no traffic. I ordered the pho tai (rare beef) and the broth was good but they serve clumpy noodles which is a very big pet peeve of mind. Listen pho restaurateurs, clumpy noodles should be banned. Breaking up clumpy noodles with chopsticks in BOTH hands in my piping hot bowl of pho makes me extremely agitated. I will always knock a star off for clumpy noodles. Noodles should always be swimming freely in the soup. Its possible that they have fresh noodles so ask when ordering. What I do like is that their plate of garnishments: Thai basil, culantro (saw-leaf), flash boiled sprouts, jalapenos, lime, and rice paddy herb! Very few pho shops provide rice paddy herb (citrusy-cumin like flavor) so toss this guy in your bowl to...
Read moreCame here the same day the area had the tet parade on bolsa so decided to have lunch here. Now I get that it was busy with customers and all with a special event so I didnt mind having to wait for food. But if this place took 45 minute just to bring my food out then something is wrong. I literally had to ask twice where is my food so they literally forgot about my order and never acknowledged that. This was only chicken pho that I order so it should not be that difficult to make. On top of that I order their specialty combo pho to go and that took another 45 minutes. I came up to ask and the dude was just like you have to wait and then I said dude its 45 minutes so what is going on. The food was okay nothing special but the service just sucks. So needless to say I will not be going here again. Go to pho 86 service is good and food is...
