MOMU Ice Cream — Restaurant in Westport

I have to say, I was sad to see Saugatuck Sweets leave this location, and mourn that my kids will never know the wonder that was Chocolate Cherry Avalanche.. 😭

But that being said, this is a PHENOMENAL artisanal ice cream addition to Saugatuck, and on par with some of the best craft ice cream establishments in the Tristate area (The Bent Spoon in Princeton, Arethusa in Bantam, Dr. Mikes in Bethel, etc)

The negative reviews I see for this place really don’t make sense to me. This is REAL ice cream, made with clean ingredients.

The chocolate-based flavors are particularly creamy and decadently rich. The chocolate-hazelnut I tried to today had big chunks of toasted hazelnuts, and the chocolate raspberry brownie had fresh raspberries in it. My 6 year old daughter is particularly fond of the chocolate chip mint, made with real fresh mint. (That flavor is even better than Talenti used to be before they sold out to Unilever.)

The cones are fresh home-made as well. And they have a good mix of basic ice cream flavors, classic combos and then a few exotics utilizing locally sourced add-ins and seasonal produce.

The quality and freshness don’t come cheap, relative to other ice-cream places. But if I’m going to splurge on the calories, happy to dig a little deeper into my pocket for...

Stumbled upon the soft opening of MOMU last night & was blown away. Everything is made in house, FRESH- from the cones to the Oreos and the brewed coffee for the “mud” ice cream! I tried the s’mores ice cream and the graham crackers really just stood out! They were crunchy & SO DELICIOUS!!! The mint ice cream has REAL mint not imitation flavoring and it makes such a huge difference!! The employees were kind, friendly & really welcoming! I loved the atmosphere & that I didn’t feel like I was in a “kids” ice cream shop!! This is elevated! MOMU Ice Cream, located in the former Saugatuck Sweets location, brings a unique, fresh, and fragrant take on ice cream and sorbet. ALL of the flavors are made on site, including their amazing, warm, prepared to order waffle cones. The pricing is a bit high in comparison to other places nearby but so is the quality, atmosphere and customer service. Locals and tourists alike need to check out this waterfront treatery to experience it for themselves.
