The Lobster Shack — Restaurant in Westport

I went to this restaurant because I heard they had gluten free options available but was disappointed. I arrived and asked the counter person taking orders about their gluten free options and she alerted me there are only three items that are actually gluten free. I ordered the shrimp tacos. Everything was way over cooked and very difficult to chew. The taco shells were hard as rocks and made a sound when I touched them to see how tough they actually were. They only give out 3 to 4 small baby shrimp per taco and those were tough and over cooked as well. I had to pick out pieces of the shredded cabbage from the taco because they had grey and black spots on it, seemed old. Everything was very bland in taste. Not much flavor. The fries were stale and had other unidentifiable fried particles on them.(they promised their fryer was dedicated gluten free, their only items available gluten free are not fried in any way. I’m concerned about cross contamination from the fries.) After hearing of the many good reviews, I’m very disappointed and not sure if I will ever return. We are not from here and did not realize that this was for pick up. But husband got the haddock which was excellent with the old bag fries. I got the Compo Lobster Sandwich with avocado salad and plain fries. Right off the bat the bread was soggy and falling apart and the fries were cold and flavorless. I just scrapped off the sandwich filling off the bread and ate it. There were a couple of pieces of lobster that was overcooked. I had a missing item from my order and the owner, Bill Rizzuto, took the time to email me to apologize. I support local businesses and avoid chains as much as possible. The Lobster Shack/Rizzuto's has an owner who does take pride in their businesses and they really care about their customers.
