Mike's Pizza — Restaurant in Westtown Township

I decided to look around the West Chester area for potential caterers for my Rehearsal Dinner and came across Mike's Pizza. They're food is usually fairly decent aside from the occasional mess ups which I understand happen. I approached the manager/owner and requested a quote on a large tray of lasagna, a large tray of chicken Parmesan, 2 small trays of salad & garlic bread. He took my information and wanted to call me back the following day -- which I did not hear from him! I had to go back to the restaurant 2 days later and talk to him once more in order to get the price, which was $190. I was happy with this price and decided to overlook the lack of communication on their part, I even decided I wanted an additional large tray of Baked Ziti (which we didn't discuss a price before leaving but figured it'd be around $280-$300). Fast forward 2 weeks, I come in to pick up my order, the salads are great, the garlic bread is great but then I see all my main dishes are in SMALL trays which are about half the size of the large trays! I talk to the manager/owner and ask if I can get another small tray of Baked Ziti quick since this wouldn't have been enough to feed my party to which he agreed. I then asked about the price since I paid the original $190 for 3/4's of the food to which he charged me an additional $40 for the new tray of Baked Ziti! He then printed out the attached receipt telling me I should be happy with the price since he "gave" me a deal initially! I ended up paying the extra $40 because I really needed the extra food for my party.

Long story short, the manager/owner expected me to overlook their huge mistake with my order & pay MORE to fix it just because he gave me a "deal" (which as far as I can tell was 100% made up just to get me out of their hair -- see the Custom Items & Prices in the attached receipt). These prices are not listed on their menu & I was not initially inquiring about a "deal", I was seeking their ACTUAL prices for what I requested which he stated would be $190 for all of the initial order (large tray of Lasagna & Chicken Parmesan with salads & bread).

Attached is the "actual" catering prices he provided, I hope this will help future enquirers with their orders from Mike's Pizza! These prices are actually pretty steep for the area. Small Salad tray: $19.99 (comes with dressings) Garlic Bread: $1.00 per Small Tray of Lasagna: $75.00 Small Tray of Chicken Parmesan: $75.00 Small Tray of Baked Ziti: $40.00

The food is greasy and the service is beyond rude. Mike's Pizza screwed up my take-out order, and when I called to get it fixed I was treated with contempt. After lecturing me for 15 minutes, the woman on the phone (Mike's wife) said I could get a refund but I would have to wait for the manager Joe (her son) to call me back. A week later Joe called me and said sarcastically that I'd have to bring back the food, and only then would he give me a replacement, not a refund. I told him I threw out the food after 3 days of waiting for his call. I reminded him that his mother had promised me a refund and asked to talk to her (I could hear her coaching him in the background). He said she was not there, that "Mike's doesn't want your business", and hung up on me. I called back and the mother answered. I asked her why her son had hung up on me, and she screamed "My son doesn't hang up on people! My son is not a liar! We don't hang up on people!" And then she hung up on me. Avoid this "family run business" and go to a real restaurant...

Mikes Pizza has been a home away from home for me for over 25 years. Their Mikes Special Italian Hoagie and Cheesesteak are hands down the best I've ever had. I always order a basket of fries to accompany my meal, and they never disappoint.

But it's not just the food that keeps me coming back. The atmosphere at Mikes Pizza is warm and welcoming, and the staff treats me like family every time I walk through the door. From the friendly banter to the personalized service, I always feel right at home.

I still remember when they had their pin ball machine many many years ago. So much fun. Each time has been a memorable experience. I can't imagine finding another restaurant that could ever replace the special place that Mikes Pizza holds in my heart.
