Em's Ice Cream — Restaurant in Wheat Ridge

I have been here a few times because it’s local and I love ice cream. I thought it was a little overpriced especially for what it was but supporting small is important to me. With that said, I spend a lot of time going out in the neighborhood which has led to me meeting some former Em’s employees. What made me decide to never visit again was the absolutely awful stories I heard from these teenagers. Accounts of being required to work while incredibly sick, requiring 15 year olds to run the shop by themselves on a Friday night, a young girl even gave me an account where she had made a simple joke and been fired over it! Not only are these things a violation of labor law, they are cruel and advantageous of young teenagers looking for a job. I sincerely hope other employees have a different experience but so far I have only heard bad things. I am 48 so I am aware a first job is never easy. Edit to add: I will no longer trust their menu as to what flavors are available! I made the drive yesterday to get almond Joy flavor, which was posted here online on their menu, and turns out they had not had that flavor for over a week. I passed two other ice cream operations to get there. Quite peeved.

Wow! I was hot and looking for good ice cream and found this on Google Maps. I had an intensely lemon ice cream with chocolate chips that were a little tiny shavings so they permeated every bite. This is some of the best ice cream I’ve ever had and I will be back! I am from San Francisco and I am a Denver transplant, and this is the closest I’ve had to real ice cream since moving here. The quality of the ice cream and the flavors here are phenomenal. We loved the burnt brown sugar, the lemon fluff, and the cookies and cream! The honey lavender is one of the best lavender ice creams I’ve had… well balanced, not too floral. It was delicious. The young lady who served us provided us with great service too. She did a great job. We’re so glad we found this place. We will definitely be coming back.

Update:

We have become regulars haha! The cookies and cream, rainbow brownie, and I think the toast caramel latte are soooooo good. The rainbow brownie is probably my favorite flavor but they don’t always have it.
