My girlfriend and I came here for a little brunch date. We were excited to try a new coffee shop and it was a different experience than what we could get from our typical spots.
The food presentation was great, the seating was comfortable, the decor was nice, and the service was very friendly and helpful. Though there were a few areas I could see improvement.
Order fulfillment: There were a few small items missing from our order so I'm not sure if that's just a limitation of the POS or a communication issue. When offering Mayo on the side and creamer for the coffee, I think having a double check in the order fulfillment process helps catch these issues. I had to go up and ask for atleast 3 small items missing from our order.
Flavor: Both the breakfast sandwich and veggie sandwich were lacking in a strong flavor. They both could use some kind of sauce to bring out the flavor of the sandwiches. It doesn't need much else besides that but maybe a dijon or chipotle sauce could help.
Queues: Lines were going out the door. While this is normally a good thing, I think this was a limitation of having one register. On a hot day, that can make the experience unpleasant.I think having a second register or a server would help alleviate the long line. While they had menus in the line, I thought it would help to have a huge sign near the registers with the menu posted for easy visibility. Especially for those waiting in line.
Menu Options: I think a spot like this could benefit from having more sweets (muffins, croissants, and baked goods) and more vegetarian friendly options for breakfast. There were a lot of meat options available.
Layout/Seating: Everything in the restaurant feels a bit crammed, including the seating. Tables are placed wherever they could find space. They could take out the large dining table and put a few smaller tables in place. If groups want a larger seating area, they can move the tables together. They could move the water/creamers, near the pickup area instead of by the door. Having a large menu board behind the counter, eliminates the need for a table for the menus. If they're not utilizing a server, they can eliminate the host table with all the seated menus. They can also swap out the counter with a countertop+ Icebox combo. Then they can move all their cold drinks to the same space as the counter and people can still grab drinks in line.
Overall not a bad place to eat but I had higher expectations with the photos and...
Read moreI like trying out different cafes in the area and had been looking forward to trying CoCo & Blu. Since it is a bit out of the way, I was excited when I was in the vicinity. So my son and I stopped in for breakfast and drinks. After spending over $63 (with tip), it says a lot that we actually threw out our drinks and some of the food. We ordered a Vanilla Latte with oat milk and Iced Chai with oat milk. They were so watery and not enjoyable that we both agreed that we didn't want to drink them anymore. I like to try croissants if they look fresh. So I ordered one warmed. They warmed it in the microwave...which made it tough and rubbery. (You should never microwave bread!!!) Had I known, I would have chosen it at room temp. We threw that out as well. Ugh! My son ordered the breakfast sandwich ($13)...which the egg was also microwaved and rubbery. So he won't eat it. I had the bacon and avocado toast on GF bread ($14). It was ok. Not bad but not much to it. For the price of each sandwich, I'd expect something more/better.
The lady working the register was very nice. But everyone else seemed unhappy. After we pitched the drinks and croissant, we decided we'd rather just take the food to go. They were still preparing in the kitchen so I asked another staff member (young lady with glasses) and she seemed so unbelievably annoyed by me. They hadn't even plated it. So I don't understand why it was an issue.
The ambiance is great. I do like how they decorated. But overall, I am disappointed in CoCo & Blu and will not...
Read moreThis is the second time I have ordered from Coco & Blu. The first items were amazing quality, and they are one of the few companies that uses the color I like for my Doberman in leather. When my boy out grew his first collar I knew I wanted to use Coco & Blu again. I asked for a completely custom order for something pretty different to any of their usual collars. Not only were they able to fulfill my request Graeme took time out of his day to go over all of the details with me, answer all of my questions, and make sure everything was correct before finalizing the order. Even though he had to order custom hardware and custom make everything the collars were shipped incredibly quick. I already had a leash, but I wanted a buckle collar for identification tags, but I wanted it very thin and unobtrusive to accommodate a very fine leather slip collar, as my dog is in training for show and that is the style of collar he is learning to walk on and does best on. With a flat collar he pulls like a sled dog, but with this thin slip collar (and a boat load of proper training and patience on my part) my 5.5 month old Doberman walks right by my thigh and will not leave it without his "free" command to have a relaxed walk where he may sniff and roam a little as long as he doesn't pull. I will be ordering the same collar again as soon as he out grows this one. I will not hesitate to come back for any other collar or leash...
