Cabin 61 — Restaurant in White Bear Lake

Can't say anything about the food because I left before I could order. It wasn't even that busy, but no one stopped to even greet me and my mom. We stood at the entry for a little before we realized it was a seat-your-self, which was confirmed when I made eye contact with a server across the restaurant and pointed to a table. My mom and I sat our selves down and started looking at the menu. It's a pretty small menu, but everything I read sounded really tasty. The server came by and placed two waters at our table and walked away without saying anything.

Then the waiting game started. The server walked past our table at least 5 times while bussing other tables, taking food orders from other tables, and bringing drinks to other tables. We never even got an acknowledgement that we were there other than the waters being abruptly placed on our table. We waited about 10 minutes before we just left. Doubt anyone even noticed. I've never felt so unseen at a restaurant. I've been a server myself and have dined at enough restaurants to know that sometimes it's busier than it looks....but I've always let the table know that it's busy...not pretend like they...

I'm surprised the reviews are as high as they are. 3 burgers (1 specialty, a plain cheeseburger, and a hamburger with lettuce & tomato), a cup of soup, and one "upgrade" to fries cost our group over $60 before tip, and roughly $75 after tip. Everyone drank water. Those prices are wildly out of touch with the quality we received.

Only one burger was cooked correctly in our group; the other 2 were overdone and extremely dry. Mine was no better than packaged frozen patties; genuinely the worst restaurant burger I've had in a long time. The included side is house-made chips, which were not good; they were burnt and flavorless. A $3 upcharge to standard fries is absurd, but I'm guessing a lot of people opt for it if their chips are always this bad.

We ate inside, and the sound issues/acoustics need to be addressed. Our group was basically yelling to be able to hear each other, even though other patrons weren't seemingly loud. One member of our group uses hearing aids, and he wasn't able to hear anything all night.

Service was great, but between the high prices, noise levels, and below average food, we won't...

We are regulars of this fantastic restaurant. I recommend it to everyone! The food is awesome and the staff has always been excellent. Unfortunately recently a new server has joined your team and she is really not doing well at all. She is going to hurt your business. Now when we go there I find myself crossing my fingers that we don't get her because it makes our whole experience feel bad. I was a server myself for 17 years and I really don't believe that extra training is going to help this employee.

Update: 10-9-2023 We haven't been here in awhile so we decided to stop in for lunch today. Our server was, Lena, and she was outstanding!!!!! I had the chicken tinga tacos that were so good and absolutely loaded with chicken....I mean Loaded! You get two tacos and I couldn't even finish one! My husband had a fantastic tasting and juicy cheeseburger and chips. Then we splurged and had the cinnamon mini doughnuts with a side of chocolate sauce to dip them in. They just melt in your mouth! I highly recommend you check...
