Gluten friendly menu options. However, please be very weary & ensure your server & the BOH understands your dietary needs & what it is you can & cannot have e.g. wheat, barley, malt, rye etc. $26 bulgogi • marinated ribeye, white rice, mushroom, onion, soft poached eggs, kimchi, sesame seeds & sweet & spicy bulgogi sauce ⭐️⭐️ Mmhm the ribeye was overpowered by the rice doused in sauce. There’s one singular flavor note & that is salty. Textural wise, the bowl was mushy like on the flavor profile & palate. Wouldn’t get again. $24 miso scallops • seared with miso butter, asparagus & lemon zest ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for the flavor & quality. The asparagus & scallops were cooked beautifully & the flavor pairs so well together. The crisp freshness of the scallops with the buttery fleshy scallop is chef’s kiss. Absolutely love the ambiance too! The price for two scallops though mmhm $18 roasted yellowtail collar with kimchi & ponzu ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Probably the best hamachi I’ve ever had. Fatty, salty, fresh, crispy skin too. Flavorful & yummy. Love it! $25 yuzu poké bowl • bluefin tuna, yuzu tobiko, avocado, yuzu sauce, ponzu, chili oil, crispy onions & sesame ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A delicious refreshing & healthy bowl! The avocado was super fresh & the bluefin tuna tasted so smooth & buttery. I like the contrast of the tuna with the crispy onions. Very good, will return! $24 Kappa Monster • blue crab, asparagus (I subbed for cucumber), radish sprout, shrimp, unagi, yum yum sauce, panko & scallion ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ One of my favorite rolls at Mizu They’d definitely don’t skimp on the ingredients & everything is fresh. I have a big appetite so I don’t really get full with one roll, but, it is absolutely delicious. I like that with every individual roll, I can taste all the ingredients & a lil soy sauce goes a long way. The textures work well together ending off with the crunch of (in my case) the cucumber. Very refreshing & yummy. We were the last to leave this evening & watched as the whole team deep cleaned the sushi bar & the entire restaurant-Mizu really does pride in their ingredients & sanitation of their restaurant. Very impressive. Matt is also the best, he’s our go to guy. Attentive, talented with the bar & personable. One of the best servers we’ve ever had! $4/each fresh oysters with Yuzu Kosho mignonette ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Always very delicious. Simply topped with the mignonette. Always a go to in my book at Mizu. They are so tiny for $4/piece, but I can’t help it! They’re deliciously fresh & briny.

Mizu is a cozy, upscale restaurant with great sushi options, incredible staff, and a beautiful location on the shore of White Bear Lake. The prices are a bit high, but that is understandable given the quality of the sushi. We had a variety of rolls and nigiri, including the special, as well as the miso soup (a baseline for me, which was delicious and helped set good expectations). The food was excellent, fresh fish complimented well by flavorful and well-paired spices and vegetables. The rolls were expertly prepared, great consistency and balance. The staff also graciously offered to make a mocktail for me, which was superb and greatly appreciated. We would definitely come here again. 💙

Mizu is located across white bear harbor the owners also own bar next door The atmosphere is modern and elegant They have nice patio to enjoy your food and drinks My favorite drink was the Koi which uses Cachasa I am sure this is not how you pronounce it but regardless is the same liquor in Caipirinha so it tastes just like one with some Japanese twist Also do highly recommend the sampler platter which has oyster 🦪 with caviar , otoro , Wagyu A5 and Uni or sea urchin spoon with ponzu sauce extremely delicious 🤤. The plum wine was beautiful and delicious , I do believe a full meal will drinks for 2 will run you you at least $200 But def worth it

One of the worst dining experiences I’ve had in a very long time. Our server did not come to us to take our orders for quite a long time. For awhile we didn’t know if he was our server or not. He even went as far as to actively avoid us and avoid eye contact with us. We watched as he would be very attentive to the people sitting in front and behind us but never would try and walk past my table. Instead would go completely around the restaurant to assist the tables in front of us and behind us just to avoid us. We spent 300 dollars here for 4 dishes so expected some quality in service and food but overall food was waaaaaay too expensive for what you get. You can get cheaper and better quality else where. At least the other workers who were cleaning tables were helpful. Without them we would have never been helped. At one point we asked for boxes and the check from our server once he finally came over to us. Then leaves for 30 min to never be seen again. A different worker cleaning our table showed up. She offered to get boxes and gave them to us within a minute. By the time our server came back again he had no boxes or a check as we kinda expected considering how horrible he was to us. he even still asked us if we were doing okay still. Which made no sense since we asked for boxes and the check 35 min prior now. He now checks his pockets for our check as if it will appear and then walked away to go get it “again”. Waited another 25 min while we watched him instead have long conversations with other people and avoid eye contact with us again. The place was filling and we wanted to go and make room for others so it started to become extremely awkward. It took more then an hour to get our check that we nearly just walked out without paying because clearly our money and time don’t matter. Will never ever go here again and wish we had spent the hour long wait in the car on the way to RH rooftop for a more high quality experience in both food and service for less. If you don’t care for how your food tastes then you will enjoy this place. If you care for food with unique flavors and seasonings, look else where. Anyone who says the food is amazing only eats meats and potatoes everyday and has never ventured out for unique and...

We usually stop by Mizu for drinks and sushi after visiting Acqua next door, and the experience is definitely worth trying. That said, Mizu stands out on its own as well.

While you'd be tempted to call this a sushi place, don't overlook the rest of the items on the menu. The sushi is great, don't get me wrong, but there's so much more. Their tonkotsu ramen broth is made in-house, warming, and served in just the right portion with noodles, soft boiled egg, and of course a nice slab of seared pork belly. At chef's suggestion I tried the tuna tataki which was incredibly tender and flavorful, with the ponzu and chili oil playing nicely against the richness of the fish. The pickle assortment is a fun appetizer to share with a small group, just watch the plum pit (as you will undoubtedly be reminded).

We always pick a spot at the bar to watch the chefs, which I highly recommend. They aren't overly chatty, being busy of course, but the occasional conversation can be had and they are always happy to make recommendations (which you would be wise to follow). Staff are quick to seat, refill drinks, and offer their own recommendations as well.

The feel of the room is both a contrast with and a complement to Acqua, definitely more of a relaxed environment while still enjoying the same low lighting. I'm a sucker for a front-row seat at the sushi bar, and could spend an hour just idly trying this or that and watching the chefs at work.

Finally, to echo a sentiment from my Acqua review: After we finished eating at Acqua last time, co-owner Daron called over to Mizu to tell them we were coming and we had a spot waiting for us maybe 45 seconds later. His attention to detail and service mindset...
