I love the interior. I love the neighborhood. The coffee is very good. I want to give a good review.
But my order is a 16oz Americano, and this shop charges a $0.60 higher price for their 16oz double shot Americano than their 12oz double shot Americano. It's just a slightly larger cup and 4oz of hot water.
When I asked why, I was told that the 16oz cups cost a lot more. I replied "that doesn't sound right", and I was told more firmly that it was true because they're made from compostable material or something like that.
At most, 12oz cups cost $0.12 per cup. The absolute highest price I could find for the best, most insulated 16oz cups was $0.19 per cup.
It is a dishonest practice to say you're using 16oz paper coffee cups that cost $0.72 per cup. Or, if it's true, you should find a new vendor immediately.
The funny thing is they came around to offer water in 6oz paper cups a little later... for free! Which was very nice of them, but also illustrates my point.
You're overcharging customers for wanting 4oz of extra hot water so they can enjoy their drink just a little longer. This is not a good way to treat your customers.
If you need to meet a profit margin, charge a little more for every size of Americano with 2 shots in it. Or charge $0.10 more for each larger size. That covers the cup cost plus a few pennies.
I don't come to the shop that often, although I did recommend meeting a colleague there recently.
My protest going forward will be that I'll bring in my own 16oz travel cup and ask for a 12oz Americano..."just fill it up with 12oz of water". And then I'll add warm water. The policy is $0.50 off if you bring your own cup. So I'll get the drink I want while saving $1.10 off your inflated set price.
Again, I really like the shop and the people. But I don't like paying extra for hot water, and it's a bit insulting to be told something that's...
Read moreI love Dubsea! I am picky about coffee and this is one of the few places that has both good coffee and good food. Pastries are not made in-house to my knowledge so if you are a stickler for fresh pastries then be warned, however their breakfast sandwiches are creative and always tasty. They also have some lunch sandwiches. I have always had excellent service from very nice employees, and the overall feeling I get from dubsea is that it's a treasured neighborhood staple in a safe, walkable neighborhood. It's also kid-friendly, and has nice activities for kids under 10, with kid-friendly food and beverage options. There is always street parking available out front and is easily accessible for wheelchair users. Additionally, there is a private bathroom for customers and plenty of seating so you don't have to worry if you can find somewhere to sit. I believe they also have wifi for customers, but I'm not 100% positive. I really love their chocolate flavor (tastes like actual chocolate and not just weird artifical goop like most places) and during the holidays I love an orange chocolate mocha. Finally, if you get a chai or other tea ask to leave the tea bag in the cup for it to be a bit...
Read moreMy friends and I just landed from airport and were looking for a quick place for breakfast/coffee. We chose here since it was between the airport and our airbnb. We put in the wrong address though and ended up in a construction site (8th ave S vs 8th ave SW). When we did get here, the coffee shop is in a cute and quaint area.
We got a mocha, cardamom latte, and matcha latte for drinks. We got the spinach and cheese brioche and a nutella brioche. They were really patient and helpful with what was good. We loved it! If youre a fan of chai/cinnamon, I would recommend the cardamom latte. The matcha latte was also made really well; the matcha wasn't too over powering at all. The pastries were really light and were a nice snack to get the morning going.
We are so glad that we started our trip here. It seems like it would be a nice place to do work. It is roomy and pretty quiet. They also had stickers...
