Still not a fan of the final result after the drainage improvements to the large dog area in June ‘22. My dog hates to run/play on the gravel and really only uses the grassy areas, which are limited in comparison. However, the “grassy areas” are not so much grassy as they are filled with weeds that are not great for dogs. Foxtails are everywhere and weeds with small sticky burrs are (less prevalent but still there) even popping up in the graveled play area. Less of a concern once it’s fall/winter, I’m sure. (Update July '23: they've done a great job of eliminating the foxtails and many/most of the weeds within the play areas.) Other than those things, it’s got a loop that takes you in both sun and shade, small trails off the edges of the loop and one main play area, with covered tables/benches for owners to sit. I do wish there were more agility equipment but it’s about the same as most other dog parks that way. The small dog play area has a lot of tree cover which is nice for hot or rainy days, but the ground is pretty uneven and has some ankle-breaker holes so be careful as you’re walking through. (Update July '23: They cut a lot of lower branches among the trees so there's a lot more shaded play area in the big park that's actually accessible to owners and not just dogs.) Most regulars are friendly dogs with responsible owners with a few exceptions; dog fights seem pretty rare here. The large open field on the edge of the off-leash area is regularly used as an unsanctioned off-leash area by a lot of people whose dogs have good recall; I’m not sure if animal control ever shows up and gives citations because my pup is too much of a runner to trust her there. In the rainy season that field gets a little swampy though, so if you plan to use it I’d recommend you bring...
Read moreWestcrest Park is a stunning scenic park that has a community garden adjacent to a dog park for both small and large canines, providing scenic views of Seattle, tree lines, and little hills. It's a fantastic place to visit.
I highly recommend Westcrest Park to anyone who is searching for a place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. The park is well-maintained, and there are numerous activities to do, including picnicking, playing on the playground, walking your dog, or simply taking in the views.
Here are some specific things that I enjoyed about the park:
The views of Seattle are breathtaking. On a clear day, you can see the skyline, the Space Needle, and even Mount Rainier.
The park is extremely dog-friendly. There is a large dog park where your dog can run and play off-leash, as well as a smaller dog park for smaller dogs.
The community garden offers an excellent opportunity to learn about sustainable gardening. During the growing season, you can volunteer to help maintain the garden.
The park is well-maintained and has plenty of amenities, such as picnic tables, benches, and restrooms.
Overall, I had a fantastic time at Westcrest Park, and I would definitely recommend...

PET WARNING: adding to the beginning so it doesn’t get lost. The main grass area has a bad infestation of Erodium Cicutarium, common name: Redstem Stork's Bill or Pinweed. They are like foxtail but on crack. They have a barbed tip and spiral stem. When wet (…yep) the spiral stem cork screws in the ground OR your pets skin. Pulled no less than 500 from my 35lb long haired dog’s legs. She’s okay for now. Hoping I got them all.
It’s great that they have a quite large dedicated dog area with two open areas and an agility type area with ramps and tunnels. The parking area on the south doesn’t feel safe to me. It’s secluded and not visible from the majority of the park. I prefer the parking area on the north west corner. Though questionable folks park and sit in both fairly often. Unfortunately, someone likes to do doughnuts in the open grass area so it’s been torn up a few times and has...
