I’ve been craving a really good fast casual burger spot around Blue Bell for a long time, so I was super excited when Mooyah opened!!
When I first walked in, there was good ambiance and most of the tables were filled!! Always a good sign!!
That’s where it ended. I said hi to the cashier and received not a word or gesture in response... just a long stare...uh okay lol...I scanned the menu and figured I had to get the signature mooyah burger, ordered it and comboed it with fries and a drink which came out to 14.89 with tax. Kinda pricy but hey shake shack, 5 guys and other spots are priced similarly. The girl at the cashier did not seem to really care at all and didn’t say a word the whole time besides, for here and to-go. Whatever, maybe she had something going on in her life, but it wasn’t leaving a great first impression. The moment i got my receipt she turned around to leave and had a discussion with the other cashier, but I hadn’t even gotten my drink yet. When she noticed me still there she stared at me again(lol), until I said I needed my drink. I got it, but no apology, or sorry. Whatever, I thought I’m here for the burger...
The food came quickly and promptly which was great! The issue I had was that: 1 the burger was cooked pretty well done and wasn’t that juicy. 2. The Mooyah sauce which looks like Big Mac sauce is smothered over the burger, yet lacks any tartness or sweetness to cut through the Fattiness of the burger...honestly it just tastes like mayo and I found myself adding ketchup onto the burger. So I definitely can’t recommend the sauce. 3. Like some other reviews, the potato bun is mostly fluff and I found it got soggy really fast!
Overall I didn’t really like the burger which is why I docked two stars. The service at the cashier was subpar which is why I docked another star.
The two stars are for the quick service and the fries which was good. Honestly this place has so much potential and most of the things I mentioned are quick fixes and just take time to iron out. The place is fairly new so I’m sure they are working out the kinks with quality and service. I was disappointed, but will give this place another shot in maybe two or three months. Lots of potential but what the hay..two...
Read moreThis is becoming a crowded space - the fast-casual, burger joint. MOOYAH offers a good product. I say it's right in the middle of the pack with its peers like Five Guys, Smashburger, and The Habit Burger & Grill.
On entering, I saw a lot in common with a Five Guys-type of location. The boxes of potatoes, the fresh cut fries, the very large quantities of fries available, the layout even feels a little like a Five Guys. The pricing is about the same, too.
However, the hamburger I had was less messy - let's say, slightly more ... refined. I went with the cheddar bacon burger, and a regular-sized fries, and a fountain drink. Good flavors in the burger, and probably the right size. I just tried a Habit Burger, last week, and everything is very similar to that product - the size, the refinement, the flavors, etc.
The small-size of fries was still sufficiently abundant - and, I like fries. Fresh cut. (I didn't try the sweet potato fries, this time). For the fountain drinks, the difference in price between medium and large is $0.50. This compelled me to stay with the medium, and still a bit pricey being just under $3. On a positive - this is a Coca-Cola shop.
You can build your own burger, or go with one of the six of seven suggested combinations. I also did not try the shakes, but that seems like a good fit. They were a bit pricey - about $5 for the small, if I recall, correctly.
Prep time is a bit longer than Five Guys. Staff were friendly, and professional. The space was organized and clean.
I'm sure I'll be back, especially as I'm in this area at least...
Read moreI got an email that I had a free burger (with a purchase of course). On 7/9, I tried to redeem the coupon online but the system wouldn’t allow it. I tried the app and the website and it just wouldn’t work after multiple attempts. I decided to go into the store to redeem my coupon in-person but the owner wouldn’t allow it. He acknowledged that the app/online system has multiple technical errors and often doesn’t work. I showed him the email, my app, and the QR code with the offer clearly displayed. The correct and appropriate customer service thing to do would have been to honor the coupon regardless of the technical errors. Not only did he refuse to honor the coupon, he was unconcerned and a bit rude.
This whole ordeal was absolutely ridiculous and a waste of time. Truth be told, I would have never thought about visiting this place again, had it not been for the coupon they sent me. The first time I bought food here, the burgers were extremely greasy and barely mediocre. You would think that the owner would have actually appreciated some business being as though this place is always empty.
Do not be lured by any false offers!!! Go to nearby Shake Shack or Five Guys in Plymouth Meeting for tastier burgers...
