Sportman's Lounge — Restaurant in Whittemore

I recently moved to the area about 3 months ago. When I'm feeling hungry for some fish this is where I go. If I could give there Perch special it's own rating I would. Perfect coating not too think not too thin with a nice amount of spice. Squeeze a little lime or lemon on em and you have the perfect lunch or dinner. The staff are kind and friendly. If there not to busy, make for excellent conversation. Family friendly as well. You can definitely bring your kids and not feel bad. Clean seats and tables with a nice amount of air flow. Even have a outdoor seating area for a chance of scenery. I'm not to big of a drinker but the beers I have gotten of tap were poured with a nice head, not too think and had nice flavor to them. Small Town bar with the vibes to go with it. Makes it easy to call this city...

Overall a disappointing experience, esp after bringing folks from out of town to this place before the races. Place was somewhat busy, only one waitress and one “cook”. Waited 45 minutes for food, even after waitress mentioned it should only be 20 minutes. Food didn’t come out together. Reuben consisted of a couple thin slices of meat, wasn’t grilled properly, came out oily. Burritos were sad, nachos were pitiful (esp for the price!). Boneless wings were chicken nuggets. Hard to call what the gal did in the kitchen cooking... basically it was all microwaving. She even missed food on our order (4 adults, 2 kids). Even had to ask for refills. No one even apologized. Guess this is the norm? The one positive, there is a bar. Not worth it, ...

Bar food. Service wasn't good. Waitress walked around us several times serving friends up at the bar and ignoring us at our table. Food was up fast, but I had to get up to get my own condiments and to ask for the bill when we were done. She never came back to ask about more drinks. She wasn't sure how to process the bill. Other than taking my order, it might as well have been self serve. Food was okay for the price. Sorry. I like to support small local businesses, but they have to put in some effort. I gave 3 stars based on the italian sub that was pretty good and worth the price. I probably won't go back to try...
