Decided this day to go on a date with my fiancĂ© and at first we had chosen a little Mexican restaurant a few blocks west of there but seeing as to how we had reviewed the menu for signs of things that could interfere with my allergies in the ingredients and from what the menu showed this was the better choice for us. Upon entering we were greeted and hosted promptly by the owner. Went with the wagyu brisket with baked beans and cheesy corn, my fiancĂ© chose the hot link meal with potato salad and Mac and cheese, lastly we decided on the cornbread for it was recommended that it taste amazing. We were finding the flavors to be incredibly well seasoned and balanced when we tried the cornbread and it was a flavor unlike anything I had ever tried and the owner came flattered informing us that it was baked mixed with some type of Asian style cake mix then he proceeded to boast that the pieces found in the cornbread were not diced onion pieces but rather pieces of coconut which this so happens to be the one thing Iâm allergic to and we had scanned the menu for signs of use of coconut in any of the ingredients but there was nothing that stated such, or for peanut allergies so I had to spit the cornbread I was in the moment fixing to ingest and my fiancĂ© had to inform him that I am highly allergic to coconut and that nowhere was it stated that coconut oil was used to cook the dishes and while I left to rush home to get my medicine because my throat was swelling shut this man didnât have the decency to get any information from my wife for incase something occurred or even offer her a reimbursement for our meal that had been ruined. Thank God for sending you over in time to randomly bring up the ingredients about the most random dish on the table. Was truly enjoying your food and restaurant unfortunately had to rush home before rushing to a hospital and wrecked into my post trying to prevent my throat swelled shut since I was driving myself; wasnât a pleasant experience knowing that we make certain to choose locations that donât cook with coconut so these issues...
Read moreWe wanted to give them time to get off the ground, so today was our first visit. We were not disappointed! Friendly service, family owned and operated, and comparable prices to any other BBQ place in town- but better quality! The awards on the wall and the experience will speak for itself! At first when I saw the prices of the meals, I got nervous.. then I noticed the pricing was for a 1/2 pound of meat, and 2 sides, and a roll- that's A LOT of food! We went for lunch, so we didn't need all that. Upon further inspection, though, we (2 adults) decided on a sandwich and a 2 sliders meal, with a 1/3 pound of Hollingsworth, and drinks. His brisket sandwich was big and delicious on the potato bun, and his side of baked beans had pieces of meat and a smoky flavor. My brisket slider were yummy with their slaw and competition sauce, the Mac and cheese had a great flavor, too! We got 1/3 hot links, too, and they were very good and juicy. We also got a side of the hot BBQ sauce and it definitely brought the heat- very good! Their son was manning the register and bringing out the food. He was so polite and professional, he was a highlight to the experience. With 2 meals, the side of hot links, and 3 drinks (2 waters and a soda) our total came to about $40, before tip. We saw and spoke to the owner and his wife while they were hanging Christmas lights out front. It doesn't get more local than this place, go check them out! We already plan to...
Read morethis was an unfortunate one, heard so many good reviews we had to try it. so today was the day. we arrived at 11:40am with 4 people in line in front of us. maybe 10-12 people in the whole place. finally 12:01pm we order our food. after what felt like forever we received out food at 12:55pm. then the even more unfortunate part. we ordered the meal with 1/3lb of 4 meats we got wagyu sliced brisket, hot links, burnt ends, and chopped brisket. tried to order pulled pork but they did not have any prepared. the "wagyu" sliced brisket was near dry and not tender, had okay flavor. hot links were decent, burnt ends were okay (not worth the extra $ in my opinion) would have much rather had pulled pork than the chopped brisket. the potato salad was very good. a heads up when you order, that it will take an hour to get your food would be nice. I hope that they were just having an off day today but, we most likely wont be back.
##update since reply from owner. going above and beyond for your customers would be to not make them wait over an hour for their food when you are not busy. if having a couple tables full is very busy for you I'm sorry. but just give a heads up when someone orders their food and has to prepay it will be...
