I ordered online and proceeded to the address that was listed. I arrived and was greeted with "did you phone in an order or did you need to place an order?" I said "Nope. I'm picking up an online order." The employee replied "Oh, you're looking for Da Cajun Shak" and proceeded to tinker with the register. I looked very confused and pulled up my order confirmation email and showed it to the worker "no I ordered from Da Chicken Shak..." The worker looked over my order and said "well we don't do online orders so idk what that is." I said "well I ordered and paid online and came to the address listed." I then showed the worker the top of the email with the yellow rooster logo and asked "isn't this yall?" The worker confirmed and said "we can make it for you, but if you already paid you need to take it up with them." I don't think I responded here. I was just still confused. Then the worker said "you're looking for Da Chicken Shak on South Seneca. They're the only ones that do online orders. We don't have that order because we don't do online orders." I said "well when I googled the place this was the only location that popped up." As I was explaining this, the worker cut me off and said again "we don't do online orders here. South Seneca is the only one that takes online orders." I again tried to explain and show my screen that when I type in "Da Chicken Shak and More" the only result I was getting was for the location I was standing in and I was in the middle of asking for the address of the Seneca location when I was cut off again by the worker saying "well we don't have that order because we don't take online orders here." I said "I understand that but I'm just trying to show you." When he interrupted me again, I turned and walked away. The other worker said something like "what are you trying to say, honey?!' But I didn't stop and kept walking. You would know what I was trying to say if you listened. I won't ever go back to the location on 13th. My Google maps search finally showed both locations as I got closer to that side of town.... an extra 20 minutes out of my way. I was craving fried chicken and looked up highly rated options. I was unaware there was more than one location since this is my very first time trying this restaurant and ordering online with them. Sure the worker could've thought I was stupid or slow or something... but the customer should never get that impression. And I REALLY wondered what was with the "Oh you're looking for Da Cajun Shak" comment after stating that I was picking up my online order. Especially considering that Da Cajun Shak has been CLOSED for a while and also considering that this worker knew about the second location that accepts online orders. Why did you dismiss me with "Da Cajun Shak" before pointing me in the...
Read moreBeing from Louisiana, my husband was cautiously optimistic for a taste of home, but obviously that was not the case.
The fried okra was good. The fries were good, but were identical to Braums. The house sauce was interesting.
However, the rest was not worth the steep price. My husband is spoiled on po' boys that are so stuffed with meat you could make a second one with everything that fell off while you ate it. But instead he paid $14 for a few scant nuggets of gator on bread... No fixins. That said, I got the gator nuggets and we both found the meat to be VERY rubbery. The only thing I've eaten that was more rubbery was bad quality squid. I've had very succulent gator before, and while I don't expect 5 star restaurant quality, I do expect it to be far more palatable for $11 and $14.
We also decided to try the chicken tenders, to get a full experience in one trip, but the breading was mush in the few minutes it took us to get it home.
Maybe we were just unlucky... Or maybe we both had too high of expectations after having gator and po' boys in Louisiana, but all in all,...
Read moreThey always say the best food is from the smallest places. And they're not wrong. Even though the inside has plenty of seating!
I got the spicy 6pc chicken tenders and Mac and Cheese. (Put me right around $10.47)
Tenders- They could be a little spicier. But I'm not complaining. Good crisp, good flavor. 9.5/10. They're so light I could eat em.all and not feel overly full. But they fill you up good.
Mac- hot, creamy cheese sauce and standard noodles. These were a little spicier. But I think there was just a bunch of Cayenne pepper on top. Still rly good.
Shak Sauce- good flavor, helped bring the tenders together. Ranch- also good. What can I say. It's ranch. Can't go wrong.
Overall
9/10 for the meal. 10/10 service. The lady was super friendly and was super kind. Would...
