I went off the reviews for this place.. which was good compared to others in town. I called up first and the lady I spoke to was kind and helpful giving me detail on pricing based on what I was wanting. I told her I was coming in and would work out the details. When I got there I was approached by a small lady with glasses in her 30s, that was very loud and almost offensive in her approach. She was helpful in greeting me and showing what books to look at, but when I started asking questions she spoke to me condescending and impatiently. I went off the pricing I was given over the phone by the size and description of what I wanted, which was about 28 bucks. She came back to see if I had picked something out and I told her yes, and described the design on the basic white cake I was looking for. She said let me price that for you and came back with a price up over 50 bucks. I explained that was too high and more than what I was hoping to spend and also more than I was quoted over the phone. She was immediately defensive and spoke alarming to me saying "you were probably quoted just a base price.. and you just picked a design that's $3.50 a serving". *Listen I don't know what I'm in here looking for and I expect the person helping me would get an idea of what I like and what I am wanting to spend and appropriately guide me.. or would even allow me to talk to the person I spoke to on the phone.. Instead of not guiding me at all and then speaking to me like I'm an idiot for not understanding why the 6" round cake I picked out was 54.00. She went on to show me picture of cake designs at 1.60 a serving and the few she showed me I said No too, because I was not fond of the design and she looked right at me at one point after I said no to a particular design and said "yeah, I am showing these too you.. so you can tell me what you like and don't like.. ok.. see. How about I just do something simple and wedding like and keep in the 30 range for you, would you like that?" I raised my eyebrows and about walked out because of her tone! First of all Im a first time customer and I am about to pre pay 30 bucks for a tiny cake that you want me to agree too you doing what you want to it, to fit my budget and not show me any ideas on what it will look like?? I asked for examples and did finally agree to the scrolling design and paid for the cake. But this lady, no matter how fake nice she was, had a real attitude and a forceful loud condescending approach I did not appreciate whatsoever. Not sure I will return. While looking for a company to make our wedding cake, we came across Cameo Cake and called to make an appointment to do a cake tasting. We were told to come any time and someone would help us. We showed up and were told someone would be with us. We were seated and showed where the cake books were. I don't know if the woman who came out was the "cake decorator" or the owner, both or maybe a vagrant off the streets, however we were treated as though we were impeding on her precious time. She asked what we were looking for and we told her we were needing a wedding cake and would like to do a cake tasting. She was slouching in her chair as she asked another girl to prepare the cake. She told us about some horses that she owns as we waited. During that conversation she actually used the F word!! When the samples arrived, we were astonished that we were given two flavors of cake to sample... Chocolate and traditional white wedding cake!! I asked about the other flavors and the "colorful" woman with the horses said they don't give samples of other flavors. We went ahead and sampled the two flavors they brought out. The flavor was flat and the cake had obviously been frozen thawed, then frozen again. On the up side it was moist. We left, ate lunch and then went to our appointment with WOW wedding cakes. (YES, they scheduled an appointment and then called us thirty minutes before time to remind us and make sure it was still a good time for us) We arrived at WOW and the woman there closed the office, ignored the phone and gave us her undivided attention. Needless to say, we went with WOW... By the way, we may have looked like we couldn't afford a big expensive cake, but Cameo cakes: never judge a book by it's cover. WOW cakes got our business, repeat business and we will tell everyone about our two polar opposite experiences with Cameo Cakes and WOW cakes. i been with cameo over 35 years i was very sad when i heard my girl Vickie was going to sell cameo cakes and i didn't know what i was going to do when i needed a cake made cause she was the best there was not one thing Vickie could not make and im going to really miss her so since she sold cameo and there are new owners now and I was told that everything will be left the same all the recipes everything that Vickie had the new owners now have it so i decided to order a cake for my daughter baby shower i told them how i wanted it and i wanted done the way i know Vickie will do it well picked it up today 03/26/2022 and i was very very mad this cake was so nasty and it didnt look white at all it had wholes all in it was not moist at all i told them specific i wanted just like the way Vickie will make it they said yea we can do it i said ok you know when you have Vickies recipes it shouldnt be a problem right well it was a problem this cake as i was saying was horrible taste like a spongecake Vickie cakes are nice and smooth no holes very moist not this cake there not open on Mondays but when tuesday come that cake will be going back i want my money back there not using Vickies recipe there using there own and it looks like milk was added in this cake anybody that knows Vickie cakes like i do the new owners cakes dont compare to Vickie cakes at all and i wont never go back to cameos again do not order any cakes from these new owners you are wasting your money again i been with Vickie and rick over 35 years i know what they cake taste like and the new owners are not even close to it it taste like a walmart or dillions cake or somebody that just dont know how to make cakes only way i go to Cameo Cakes unless my girl come back and i know that wont happen so i will go without my cameo cakes i paid 65.00 dollars for this cake and believe me it will be taken...
