Read moreI got a half slab of babyback ribs, a whole fried catfish, and a half pound of gizzards. Never been there before, and wanted to try it.
The ribs were pretty good, but they had obviously been kept in a warming pan for a while, 8/10. Flavor was good, they pulled off the bone cleanly, and they weren’t burnt. They would have been 10/10 excellent if they were straight from the smoker. Could have used a bit more bbq sauce in the containers as well. The sauce was pretty good, too.
The fish tasted fresh, and was delicious. Nice big size on it as well, looks to be around a pound. I’m picky about my fish, and this was fantastic. 10/10 The Mac and cheese was decent and I really liked the baked beans.
Gizzards are a challenge to prepare for many people, but these folks have mastered the technique. Crunchy, chewy, yet tender- with a good amount of seasoning. 10/10 (no photo because I was hungry and ate them)
It’s not a big place and it’s not fancy, but the food is excellent and the prices are fairly reasonable. They also offer buffalo fish ribs (not sure what they are) and frozen fish you can take home to prepare.
Please note it’s carry out only, they don’t offer dine in. Well worth a visit if you are...
Read moreDONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! Ordered catfish dinner. There was an $0.75 upcharge for ordering iced tea, but the cashier didn't mention it; just charged me for it. That brought my total to nearly $13. The coleslaw was bland. I didn't eat it. My out of the can baked beans had a bone in them. The catfish was overcooked. It wasn't burned, but it was close. This place is new to me. I thought it might be one of those awesome hole in the wall places. I was wrong. My first visit will be my last. I could have gone to Louisiana Chicken and Fish right up the street and gotten a better meal for $9 and no upcharge for iced tea. In fact, they sometimes give me a large tea when my combo comes with a small. UPDATE: I see the pictures of catfish and sides from other reviewers and it looks good. My catfish was much darker than the pictures. The cook must have been having a bad day today. Whatever the reason, I won't spend more money hoping they get it right today. Four wrongs on one order is inexcusable: overcooked fish, a bone in the beans, bland coleslaw and an unmentioned upcharge...
