Las Casuelas Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Wichita

As per my MO, torta asada. Steak is an upper-mid level quality. Salsa roja has a degree of piquancy reminiscent of Mr. Taco, but the flavor has a quality which I will characterize as initially sweet followed closely by the heat of its spice. Sandwich punctuated by a thin layer of [avocado-crema?] paste, which is an interesting diversion from fresh-sliced. Bread is nice, thick enough to sustain the torta but not so thick that it dominates, and the crust flavor is perfect (atm).

Open after 10, some indoor seating, poor street signage but plenty of neon.

Tad more expensive than typical north-side joints, but...

During our shut down from Covid-19 we ordered curb pick up. We wanted something new and found Las Casuelas via Google. We couldn't find a menu so a nice lady there sent us a picture via text message. I messaged back our order and when my husband picked up the order, for two, the bag was really heavy. I ordered the Carne Asada with tortillas and he had the Super Nacho's. They were AWESOME. I have 20+ years working in kitchens and 40+ years eating Mexican food all over the country. This place is probably top 3 of Mexican foods joints I have ever eaten at. Great service, friendly and the food is really flavorful and fresh tasting. The portions were really good. Hands down the best Super Nacho I ever had. Great sauces that were good and spicy.
