Waitress was standoffish, when asked about specials. Note specials aren't specials if listed in a menu. Cheapest meal was $12+ it was cheaper to buy the half pound hamburger than buying a breakfast meal. And it was $11.99 . Service improved after initial standoffishness. Special signs we too small of print and hard to read. When had gone in in the past was busy and packed. This time it was fairly empty. Once I seen the prices I could see why. I spent nearly twenty dollars for a hamburger and fries. And for that kind of money it should of had all the trimmings. Lettuce and tomato onions pickles. Food was fairly decent quality. Was disappointed that pancakes weren't in the menu as a solo item. The breakfast. I want was $18.99. I can purchase same thing for half that price elsewhere. . Probably won't be back because of high prices. Was kind of a nice treat place. Love the nostalgiaic building. Parking lot...
ย ย ย Read moreWe were down in Wichita this weekend. Sunday morning had me thinking ... where can we go that everyone is going to be happy! So I googled where is the best Sunday brunch and Riverside Cafe kept popping up. Let me tell you it ended up as the best meal all weekend. I was so set on breakfast but then saw the French Dip. Our waitress was one who truly walked on water in my book. She anticipated everything we needed before we asked . I'm a pretty picky person having worked in the restaurant industry since the age of 15. You may have to wait a little to get in. But trust me. Every bite you take you'll see it was worth the wait. Prices are very affordable. We had French Dip, Rueben w/FF 1/2 lb bacon cheese burger ๐ w/ FF, and steak and eggs ๐ณ with hash browns. Just a great way to end our Sunday in Wichita. Thank you Riverview Cafe. What a nice surprise. I'll definitely be back. ...
ย ย ย Read moreWe went at 10:45am on a Tuesday and there were about 6 tables taken. We seated ourselves and the waitress came over immediately and was friendly and quick. We ordered the Hungry Woman, Junkyard Dog omelette, and a cinnamon roll. The cinnamon roll was delicious and HUGE!!! My husband and I shared it and we still had to take half of it home. The junkyard dog omelette was gigantic and packed full of the fillings. The biscuits and gravy were seasoned to perfection and my husband loved the eggs and sausage. The portions were so big we took 3 boxes home, which was crazy considering how good the prices were! Our coffee cups were kept full and the staff's conversations with the regulars were fun to listen to. We loved it! We have been to quite a few cafes and diners but this one is the best we've...
