I want to preface this review with saying that this review has a happy ending.
Initially when I went in for the first time on Easter Sunday, I had a negative experience. I ordered two meals: -Chicken Carbonara for my dad. -A Salmon dish topped with pistachios for myself. After waiting about 15-20 minutes, the salmon was brought out along with a empty plate and I ended up finishing the dish roughly 10 minutes later.
Noticing how my dad still hadn't received his food yet, I asked our waiter if there was any hold up. (Already 30 minutes had elapsed since ordering). The waiter went to check on the order and said "that due to lack of chicken breasts, they had to spend extra time prepping the meat and that it should be out shortly." So we patiently waited. Another roughly 30 minutes had elapsed when we called for another waiter to check on the dish. The waiter came back saying that "the meal had been bumped off the list even though it was not made and that she will have them make it and bring it out soon." Frustrated with the situation I asked how long it generally takes for the meal to be prepped. She replied "8 minutes." So we waited for our meal to be brought out. The total amount of time that had elapsed before we received our meal was over an hour and some 15-30 minutes.
Frustrated, we had left before my dad had even gotten a chance to take a bite of his meal because we were late to our Easter plans with our family. I relayed my complaints with shift lead at the time and they comped the chicken dish.
Because we were in such a hurry to leave, I ended up forgetting my wallet on the seat there.
Following the next business day they were open, the owner of The Belmont personally drove out to where I worked to hand deliver me my wallet along with a hand written note of apology, a $50 gift card, and $40 cash to pay back for the salmon meal I had ordered.
More than anything, they emphasized that they wanted another shot at providing the customer service experience they were known to give and it makes me want to give them another shot.
A little effort to show appreciation to a customer can go a very long way and I thank...
Read moreMy husband and I arrived here at 745 for dinner on NYE. We were celebrating our anniversary. There was a small wait, we were sat at 820pm. Another couple was sat right next to us. We were told they were closing at 9. We already had a beverage from Sparky’s next door and knew what appetizer we wanted. We sat without being greeted for about 20 minutes. The table next to us were greeted, ordered drinks and food. Our drinks were empty, we were ready to order all our food. As we waited, we saw some family on their way out, chatting. This is when I finally noticed a waiter around and asked to get our appetizer going and ordered another beverage. Our brief interaction with our family ended. He came back and apologized and ensured it was on its way. The appetizer came along with our drinks and things seemed to be looking up. Until someone else took the empty plates, never asking us if we wanted anything else. We sat again for 10-15 minutes. My husband had to get up and get another person to order our main course. We noticed people were leaving because it was 915pm. At this point we were both disappointed and frustrated. Someone else came by and said our food will be out soon, we asked for our food to go. The couple that was sat at the same time was walking out before we got it. The same guy who took our empty plates without speaking to us, told us our food was coming out soon, and who gave us our check said, “We took care of $50 of your bill. You still owe X amount of $$$” without asking us if we wanted to take a look at the bill - we gave him cash and left with the food. We never knew who was to be taking care of us, never got anyone’s name, and felt dismissed. This experience may have ruined my outlook on this place. Such a great environment and food. The...
Read moreI will start off saying that overall we did enjoy our first visit to The Belmont.
The restaurant atmosphere is very nice and the service was great.
I’d heard that the drinks here were some of the best in town. I would have to agree. My personal favorite was the Johnny Applesage & my husbands was Aethers Arrow.
For an appetizer we chose the bruschetta numbers 2,3,&4. Imo the tomato, pesto, mozzarella needs a drizzle. If it had a balsamic drizzle it would’ve been perfect but felt like it was lacking without. -The Jam with Brie was the best but the jam way overpowers the cheese. (I’d have personally loved goat cheese on this one instead!) The last was a goat cheese, beet and kale. I do not like beets or kale so it wasn’t my favorite but my husband said he enjoyed it.
For dinner I chose to do the Carbonara with no meat and my husband had the Salmon.
I had high hopes for mine, but unfortunately it had what seems like absolutely zero seasoning. I’m thinking possibly they rely on the meat in the dish to add the seasoning/flavor. I really do mean that it tasted like it didn’t even have a pinch of salt in it. It felt like something you would give a picky kid on a night out(like plain buttered pasta). With that said.. it wasn’t inedible and I did finish the dish. My only hope is that they start to play around with it more and season the dish even if it is requested without chicken/bacon.
My husband thought his salmon was cooked perfectly but again thought it was lacking in the seasoning department.
We will be back to try other dishes and would recommend anyone to go and try them out for themselves. Especially if you’re wanting a good night out with...
