Let me start out by saying that this is my second time at this restaurant and the first time was good with great margaritas. This time, not so much and I will not be returning nor recommending. Called in to place an order for take out and was placed on a hold time for a little under 9 minutes, never returned to the line, called back to a busy tone, tried back once again and placed through an order immediately. I was then told that the food would be ready in about 20 minutes. Got off the phone with them, went to the store to kill time, and arrived to the restaurant about 25 minutes from when the call ended. Once in the restaurant, I was passed by a waitresses twice and the only communication from her was "excuse me." Continued to wait for a hostess for about 5 minutes who stated that she would be with me in a moment. She sat some other guests, then greeted me to which I let her know that I was there for a pick-up order. She ran to the back to check to see if my order was ready and came back with my check to pay. Once she came back to me to sign the receipt she told me, "We just started your order since it wasn't paid for on the phone." I then asked her to cancel the order since that was not conveyed on the phone call to which she replied, "I can't do that since I already told them to start making it and we already charged your card." I asked her to cancel it, she declined, to which I told her not to worry as I'll contact my bank to ensure the payment gets refunded. When spending this kind of money for mediocre "Mexican" food, the customer service should be held to a higher standard.

This place is the way a Mexican restaurant should look and taste. The design inside is clean and feels like a true family Mexican restaurant. Too many places have lost the feel. We watched the food as it when by for other tables. It all looked so amazing. It made choices difficult. We started with house margaritas and they were amazing with their chips and salsa. Salsa again is real Mexican tasting salsa with great ingredients and flavor. When we finally decide what we want we order an additional margarita but ask for a shot of Grand Marnier to make it a Cadillac. It was perfect. Our server was great and helpful. The service was fast and very efficient. Soon the food came out and it presented just like all the other great meals we had seen go by. Served hot and looked authentic Mexican. We each loved our meal. The 4 star rating explanation. Everything was rated at 5 star. The food, service and atmosphere all 5 star. But then the bill. I too as so many others dislike an automatic tipping process. A tip is earned. I honestly have had service that deserves no tip. The service here was great and would have earned a 20% tip, I just don’t like it being demanded is the right way to go. So I overall dropped the the 5 ⭐️ to a 4 ⭐️. The honest thing I did notice on the check was they put a heart on the tip line of the bill so you don’t unknowingly double tip by not looking at the bill.

Watch out for the 20% service fee. They don’t disclose to you that there’s a 20% service fee. When the bill comes there’s no place to put a tip. Do you think that the 20% will go to the server? It doesn’t! Server told me that the 20% goes to the bus boy and dishwasher. Wait hold on! They want me to pay for bus boy and dishwashers wages? must’ve been 20 tables there with an average surcharge of $10...times 20 that would be $200 an hour. I don’t believe they pay their staff that well so they are pocketing that money. I wish they would’ve just took their overhead into the price of the food. I feel so bad for the server. Though we tipped her well -it’s irresponsible for the company that put a undisclosed 20% tip on the bill That made me feel like I was getting ripped off and it seemed like it made the server uncomfortable having To awkwardly explain to me how it makes her feel bad which definitely seemed It created a hostile work environment given any pushback from the customers.

"VERY INTERESTING READ"

Back on Friday July 21st, my myself, my wife, my daughter, and niece went out to dinner here at Los Reyes! We’re told it would be a 30 minute wait for us to be sat. Next to the host stand is a couch to sit on, in which my wife, daughter, and niece were sitting as I stood due. Around 6:20 the hostess came to us from the back, and said "My manager asked me to come let you know that we are going to have to ask you to leave if you don't stop cussing at our employee that keeps walking behind you"... At that moment we looked at each other in "Shock" not knowing where this was coming from, and immediately asked the hostess what she was talking about! She responded back saying "You (I) keep cussing at our employee everything he walks by you"... Once again, we (Myself, wife, daughter, niece, and everyone that was right there) were at a loss for words, and had no response other than "You have us mistaken" because not one of us during any of our conversations ever say any profanity, nor did we talk to, or exchange any words with any other employee other than the hostess!

Manager came walking out after asking to speak to them, and upon walking up, we asked "Why is your employee walking out here saying that "You" are wanting us to leave if we don't stop cussing at your employee"... Your employee, and hostess have it all wrong, as we have been here waiting for our seat talking about movies amongst ourselves, and never once any of us saying one inappropriate word, let alone speaking in that manner that I was being accused of (Other patrons standing around were also shocked by what we were being accused of). Out of nowhere the hostess pushed herself though and got in my face pointing, and saying "I was there the other night getting drunk, and cussing out that same employee"! Wait, what... I don't drink!

Here I am already embarrassed, and humiliated from the first set of accusations, and now to follow up with more, let alone accusing someone in front of their spouse, daughter, and niece of not only speaking profanity to individuals who don't deserve it, but being drunk as well, when "I don't even drink"!

We let that manager know that the only other time myself, or my wife had stepped foot into that restaurant was a couple of weeks prior while our daughter was away, in which we sat in the dining area, pointing out the exact booth we sat in reiterating to her know that what they did, and how they treated myself, and my family was uncalled for, and “Not Ok”!

We left, of course... Frustrated, and irritated by what just occurred, we decided to reach out to the owners via their website in which gives the option to contact them. We assumed that the owners would see, and read that email, and reach out to us immediately, but that was so not true! Today is the 11th of August, and this situation occurred back on the 21st of July... Plenty of time for an owner to reach out! Today the 11th (3 weeks later... I shouldn't have ever had to call more than once) was about the 5th time I had called to try to get in touch with the owner, and to my surprise "One of the owners calls me back"!

Wish this would mean a positive resolution, but unfortunately was the complete opposite which is why I am finally writing a review... My wife, and I wanted to allow them to make it right, and apologize... and not have to write a bad review, but the owner we spoke with... This owner had the audacity to tell me "The reason I keep calling is because I feel bad for what I did, and that she talked to her 2 employees”! We truly had faith in this restaurant that they would have apologized... I mean something, right? Unfortunately they do not care, and it's truly sad to know that there are businesses that allow employees to treat their patrons in such manner, falsely accusing them, and so on...

I Hope, & Pray that nobody ever has to experience, and go through the embarrassment, and humiliation I had to had to endure that day, and Pray all who read this are Blessed, and...

This was the WORST dining experience I've ever had!!! We were seated and waited at least 20 min for a waitress... when she got there we ordered drinks... she seemed confused. She went to another table and completely forgot about us!! We had to finally go to the bar ourselves!!! Then the bartender never made our drinks!! I had to go back to ask him where our drinks were!! He had forgotten too!!!!!!! Finally I got our drinks.... then after another 20 minutes the waitress finally came back... we ordered our dinners. 30 min later it arrived. The beans tasted like straight LARD!!! Horrible bitter taste. Rice had no taste and was mixed with the beans. Chili relano was ok. We couldn't get the waitress to come back so we asked the bus boy for the manager. He came and we complained about our experience. He said he was sorry and asked us if we wanted more drinks, acting like he was going to 'comp' them. He brought the 'strong' drinks himself. We asked for the check. When the check came he had not only charged us for the drinks that he acted like he was going to comp, but he charged us 4.00 extra for extra alcohol!!!!!!! How dare him!!!!! We NEVER asked for doubles!!!!!! Then when the bill came he had charged us extra for every little thing like extra cheese, 2.00, etc. the bills were separate for us, but they were the same bills even though my friend and I each ordered different dinners and drinks!!!! They are so stupid and disorented!!! This place is a JOKE!!! They are so mixed up it's not even funny!! The food was really bad, and service HORRIBLE!! Not to mention that the customer service was INSULTING!!! If a restaurant serves bad food, and has horrible service, they usually comp the food or at least part of it!!! And just because you ask for your drink to be 'strong' doesn't mean they should charge you an extra 4.00 for it!!! (Unless they TELL you first) ESPECIALLY SINCE THE LEAST THEY COULD DO IS BUY YOU A DRINK FOR THE BAD EXPERIENCE YOUVE HAD!!!!! Well, we took matters in our own hands and paid what we thought was fair. We paid for our dinners, ONE DRINK EACH minus the extra 4.00 for a double (which we NEVER asked for) and left no tip since the service was HORRIBLE!! The food was so bad it didn't deserve to be paid for, but we were trying to be fair. We walked out with the manager running after us screaming that he was calling the cops!!!! INSANE!!!!! What kind of manager does that after his restaurant ruins your evening???!!! He should have picked up the WHOLE TAB!!! Instead he insults us and even threw extra charges on the bill!!!! Please stay away from this place!!! It's REALLY BAD!!!! I never have written a yelp review before... had bad experiences yes, but this was so BAD I don't want anyone take to go through this!! I've heard others have had bad experiences there too!! STAY AWAY FROM LOS REYVES IN...

Attention: Owner of Los Reyes

I am writing to address an issue I encountered with your staff that has led to this one-star review. I kindly request that you contact me at your earliest convenience.

The main reason for my dissatisfaction stems from the highly unprofessional behavior of your staff. Initially, I called to place a catering order and was assisted by a courteous and helpful new employee. She provided me with all the necessary information, and I informed her that I would call back to confirm the pickup time.

Upon calling back, I was connected with Alma, who I was told is a server. Alma was exceedingly rude as I attempted to place my order. She contradicted the information given to me by the previous employee, stating that the new employee "didn't know what she was talking about." My request was for a catering platter for 15 people, but Alma insisted that only a family taco pack or a fiesta pack was available. When I tried to explore other options, she repeatedly interrupted me and dismissed my inquiries.

Eventually, Alma seemed to abandon the call, passing it to Delphina, who, according to Alma, is the manager. Communication with Delphina was difficult due to a significant language barrier. Despite my efforts to speak in Spanish, she appeared unwilling to assist me and seemed disengaged from helping me complete my order. When I asked for the names of the employees I had spoken with, Delphina provided what I hope were accurate names.

Ultimately, the options Delphina provided were far more expensive than the fiesta pack for a similar quantity of food. She also claimed to be the manager and refused to escalate my call. If Delphina is indeed your manager, it may be worthwhile to provide additional customer service training, as neither she nor Alma demonstrated acceptable customer service standards.

I have been a loyal customer of your establishment, but this experience has deterred me from returning. To make matters worse, this catering order was for a surprise engagement event for my fiancĂŠ while I am away on active duty with the military. The disrespectful treatment from your staff is particularly disheartening, given the circumstances.
