Had breakfast here this morning with my wife and daughter. It wasn't busy, only a couple of tables outside and a couple inside. We were the fifth table and there were apparently three front of house staff. We were told to seat ourselves, so we sat at a booth, and the waitress/hostess came over with two menus...guess she didn't notice there were three of us.
We sat for approximately five or six minutes until they figured out who was going to wait on us, and the person that gave us the menus took our drink order, but never brought our drinks to us. The server that wound up waiting on us came over and retook our drink order and we finally got our drinks. She then took our food order and we waited for about twenty minutes to get our food, watching as a table that came in after us got their order. My wife informed the server who said she'd check on the status of our order, and we finally got our food about ten minutes later.
The food was edible, but not noteworthy in any way. The sausage patty that came on my plate was apparently a pre-cooked frozen patty that the kitchen just threw in the microwave to heat up. If the bacon were any thinner it would have only had one side, my wheat toast was cold and the scrambled eggs (apparently that's the only way you can get them according to the menu) were the pre-mixed liquid eggs and not actual whole eggs. They were watery and the water coming from my eggs soaked my cold toast.
My wife and daughter's meals were not much better and frankly we would have been better off walking down the street to the Dunkin Donuts shop and having a much cheaper, and better, pre-processed...
Read moreIce Cream only on this first trip. Did not know that Scooples has Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and ICE CREAM!! We will be back for a good review next time.
Took the kids to get some ice cream after lunch. Stopped into Scrooples for some ice cream. Atmosphere was a retro diner vibe. Booths, tables, or old school high top bar seats. Very nicely done. Ice Cream: we got a variety of simple ice creams but all were delicious. From a simple vanilla ice cream with hot fudge and peanut butter, to a chocolate chip cookie dough w/ preoccupied cookie crumbles, to a Dutch chocolate with banana pieces, to cookies and cream. ALL were delicious, all were creamy. We will definitely return for more ice cream options the next time we are at Brownwood. Staff: there were a ton of staff, all seemed to be helping one another out. More and more people came in but there was always staff there to take their order. Overall a very nice ice cream option. We will return again for lunch or breakfast. But of course, we will return again for some delicious ice cream. Stop in and try it....
Read moreWe wanted to try something different for lunch and headed down to Scooples. It was quite the talk of the town.
We went on a Thursday around 12:30 PM. We were seated as soon as we walked in and received our drinks and menus. After scouring the menu, my work colleague and I decided on the hotdog and chicken salad sandwich on a croissant. It came out within 10 minutes and we decided to have coffees to go.
As far as the food goes, the chicken salad sandwich was delicious, I would’ve liked a little bit more chicken salad on it, some areas of the bun didn’t have any chicken salad on it at all. And the hotdog bun was dry as you can see from the picture. The cost of the food was a little bit more than I expected. Just my sandwich, drink, and coffee alone cost $27. Not typically what I would’ve paid for at lunch.
The restaurant was clean and didn’t seem to be too noisy, I did wash my hands and experienced a clean restroom stocked with...
