Sq1 is a place that my husband, my toddler and I have visited a few times and we absolutely love their food ! Always had great experience and great food. Today, my family and I decided take my in-laws whom came from out of state to try SQ1 for the very first time as we told them how great their food is. UNFORTUNATELY our waiter named Tasha today made us feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome by telling us to do the following with our toddler (2 year old.) If SQ1 has kids restrictions and rules, it should be consider for those rules to be publicly posted somewhere where parents can see it and we are aware rather than a waiter telling the parents. No waiter at any restaurant has ever done the following things to us or made us feel as uncomfortable as Tasha made us feel today.
Things done and said;
*please make sure you keep an eye out on your boy while he’s on the high chairs. -As a responsible parent whom makes sure their kid is safe at all times; we don’t need to be told or reminded to keep an eye out on them. (I didn’t mind this comment/suggestion at first; she maybe had good intentions.) But then it continued.. *please make sure your kid doesn’t put the bottle of ketchup or anything in his mouth, if he does ill have to through them out. -I responded “I will keep an out on my child and make sure he doesn’t do that.” She proceed to pick those things up and moved them saying “let’s just keep them away from him.”
Now we’re feeling very uncomfortable, wanting to run out of the place; without enjoying our time nor our meal at this point.
A few other things were done and said by Tasha as to why I nicely decided to let her know how uncomfortable and unwelcome she made us feel trying to let her know the reasons. As I tried to nicely tell her; she would talk over me, giving me reasons as to why she did and said the things she did and said, her tone was pretty loud, and she mentioned that her manager had asked her to come and tell us the things she did “which at the end General manager on duty very nicely and apologetic said she never did ask her to come tell us anything!”
I hope she doesn’t make any other parent or anybody in general feel as uncomfortable and unwelcome as she...

We hate to waste food, so we decline rice & potato options that come with some entrees. Square 1 offers all their burgers to come on a bed of greens instead of on a bun. Kudos! They also have a few good side choices as well as entree dinner salads. I got the South of the Border burger on greens. It was so yummy! Cooked to a medium and nicely seasoned…it balanced well with the avocado & the roasted jalapeños (don’t eat them by themselves🥵) that came on the side. The roasted corn & black bean salsa that came on the burger is not keto, but it’s a small enough amount that it won’t hurt anything. The garlic green beans were fresh beans (not canned) and so tasty. Hubs got the chili cheese dog (foot long, chili has beans) with no bun, he didn’t choose to put it on greens. He loved the flavor of the hot dog…and it was huge. He got it with slaw and put that on the dog to make it a southern chili cheese dog. We sat outside…it was really cold inside. Service was excellent! Our server was very helpful with the menu and a joy to talk to. Great place for good food, keto options, and good service!
2/25/22: We got here around 4:45 on Friday and there were plenty of tables available. What an eclectic cow themed place...so different and fun! We had the Mushroom Swiss burger on a bed of greens with strawberries as a side & Toga Party burger with onion rings. Hubs isn't much of a tomato person, but commented that the grilled beefsteak tomato was really good and complimented the feta perfectly. The burgers are big and juicy and cooked well. Our server was very friendly, helpful with suggestions and brought our food out to us hot which didn't take long...even with...
Read moreA decent place for a decent burger... if you are a Villager. If you are, say, a family of four, expect to be moved way down on the priority list. Our first questionable moment was when we were asked if we would mind sitting outside as they had run out of tables. Not a big issue for me as I prefer outdoor seating, but there was a storm incoming and I voiced my concern over it and was told if it started raining they would try to reseat us. Fine by me, but as we were escorted through we noted that there were empty tables. And they weren't together so it wasn't like they were being saved for a large party. Our server came out took our order and we waited for our food. And we waited. And we waited. The three empty tables inside were filled. We waited. Some of the empty tables and another table outside (seated long after us) got their food while we continued to wait. Our server came out to tell us that they were just waiting on my wife's shredded chicken taco and we voiced our displeasure of having been waiting for 50 mins for three burgers and a chicken taco. She went in and almost immediately came back out with our order. When we saw my wife's meal we both said the same thing, there was no way that plate took 15 minutes to prepare, much less 50. My burger and the kids' were well seasoned, but barely lukewarm from sitting wherever and my wife's chicken taco wasn't much better. In the end, being the only 40-something customers in the place, the impression we got is that we weren't really welcome there. If we were 20 yrs older, we would have gotten better seating and better service. Which I feel is just what they were aiming for. This review might even be a feather in their cap for them as it might keep other...
