Cagney's Kitchen of Wilkesboro — Restaurant in Wilkesboro

The reason for the 3 stars is simple, as it pertains to the service rather then the food. I think they have good food, in where if you're a family maybe or single with plus 1 you might get your food on time. But today there was a reservation of a 15+ group of folks and from the moment we got there. My drink was only filled up once, the food that I ordered literally took over and hr to get to me. When it did it was mildly warm and thew person who I ordered from which I could let this go couldn't keep track of who's order was who, because she was the only one serving us. This of course is on a Saturday and the place was packed to the ceiling and you would think if it was this busy. Then they would have extra help. But nope. I just can't see myself coming to a place in where it takes over a hr to get my food and then to top that off. It took another hr to get my receipt. If not for it being a birthday I was attending. I wouldn't come period. The only way I will ever visit this place again is through invite or someone wishes to eat here. Because the service is just not worth it. Another note was the bathroom I have to complain about, that womens bathroom has seen better days that even the toilet seat has stains on it. And I decided to hold my bladder until I got to a gas station to relieve myself. Like ew. Just nope. Atmosphere I would give 10 as it is nice looking but the bathroom need to fit into that rather then it look like a beat up truck stop in where folks shot up substance or something. I've kept hearing good reviews and how groups would go here from my church and I honestly can say I don't get the appeal. I went here before with a single plus 1 and service seemed ok, just slow. So if it comes to a reserved party. Just know what you're gonna expect when paying for this. Because it will not be organized or even remotely comfortable other then your friends in the room making it...

Tonight after graduation the family and I decided to go to Cagney’s Kitchen in Wilkesboro. This was only my 2nd time at this Cagney’s location but we frequent the locations in and around Winston often with no issues. Tonight was a different story. I realize the cost on most everything has went up. I’m not naive to the fact that things have changed since Covid and I would not consider myself a greedy person. I ordered a 2 item combo with popcorn shrimp and white fish. The pic below shows the serving size. Now let’s be honest..90% of the time when you order this same thing at any other restaurant…the shrimp would be falling off the plate. You can easily make 2-3 meals from this usual order. That’s what I expected for $16.95. I honestly thought it may have just been a mistake so I kindly asked our server if this was the normal and she informed me that she would speak with her manager. The manager Arjan sent her back to inform me that because it was a combination plate they only give half servings. In my mind it should then be half the price. The shrimp were cold and had a weird aftertaste. The fish was decent. The squash was also cold and tasted like old grease. I asked that Arjan come speak with me and I began to explain my issues and asked that my meal be discounted. His response was “well that’s just how it is”. I said well then have it your way.. a bad review will be coming. He was extremely rude. Made several comments such as “what gives you the right to ask for a discount” and “I don’t care about your review”. He then proceeded to walk away. Sooo…here ya go Arjan Dede. For those of you that frequent this establishment I would think twice, but if you insist I would recommend requesting Reina as your server. She’s absolutely awesome. March 5, 2023 at approximately 12:30 PM. First ever visit: Truly dissapointing from entry. As we waited on table we observed: Two young hostesses acting like Spoiled two year olds. One with dark gray/black shirt with gold necklace. Let's call her S-1. The other, let's call her S-2 had on an Outerbanks sweatshirt. No greeting from neither S girls. S-1 pouted when manager asked her to move from hostess to cashier. Frowning, rolling eyes, and slapping touch screen with finger because she was upset. So immature. S-2 in similar fashion was asked to go back to the kitchen and with a spoiled brat look moved on. We finally got our names on the waiting list. The manager (we think), was nearby and I saw about 9 stools available at the counter. I asked if we could sit there. He said, "How many?" I replied, "Two." He said, No, only for singles." What?!?! This was our first impression in the first two minutes of arrival. Went downhill from there. House chips were like eating crispy cardboard. NO SALT! NO FLAVOR! WORST HOUSE MADE CHIPS EVER! Fried pickles good. Chicken salad croisant dry and too much celery. Fruit cup fruit looked days old and siiting out. Cheeseburger BLT was too large to bite into and was bland, no seasoning. Our waitress was very nice. Back to the front to pay. S-1 now with a different young female employee we will call S-3. While paying no conversation with us as S-1 and S-3 carried on their dialogue...S-1 saying something about "...when I am dead..." Handed me my change and never said a word. Not even how was your meal or thank you. I've started three small businesses in my lifetime and if I were the owners S-1/2/3 and manager would be fired. NEVER AGAIN AND NOR SHOULD YOU!
