This is a basic, no frills Mexican restaurant. We went on a Sunday for lunch and it was packed with the after church crowd. I was really hoping that that meant the food was good. First off, walking into the restaurant is dangerous. There is a step down into the restaurant, which they covered with a runner, so it is difficult to notice and therefore easy to trip on. This also makes it highly unfriendly for the handicapped. The restrooms also have a step up and uneven flooring. Overall it is an incredibly odd setup. I wasn't impressed with the food at all. They definitely cater to the American diet, not the Mexican one. Surprisingly, it was hard to order real tacos here. They only have Carne Asada ones listed on the menu as a meal and the a la carte tacos are Taco Bell style in a hard shell with lettuce and cheese. When I asked the waitress for basic mexican-style tacos (soft corn shell, cilantro and onion), she just looked confused. After I explained, she was nice enough to put in the off-the-menu order for me. We had to double check when they arrived, though, because the corn tortillas looked more like flour ones. They even had a strange texture too. I also ordered a tamale, which on the menu states that it is simply pork and corn meal, wrapped in a corn husk. That is not precisely what I got. There was no corn husk and it was coated in a saucy ground beef mixture and covered in cheese. I wouldn't have ordered it had I known that. I have several food intolerances and I appreciate menus that accurately describe the food. Basically, I ended up paying for it even though I couldn't eat it. Regardless, I still got sick. Not sure what from. Probably cross-contamination in the kitchen. Won't be eating here again. Do not eat here if you have...
Read moreIt's enough food but completely tasteless, cheese was water what little was poured and just made bottom soggy and couldn't be seen or tasted. Boiled squeezed non flavored ground beef, and a quarter head of lettuce with a teaspoon of tomatoes and sour cream. Had to season and eat boiled burger off nachos not to waste it and toss the soggy white water cheese chips swimming, buy sour cream and sauce from the store , pour the water cheese for any moisture make my quesadilla edible but again the water flavorless white I guess cheese added no flavor either. I ate some of the hard flavorless steak out with a fork and gave up. My husband ate it two days later just not to waste it. I hear they don't ruin fried banana and ice cream though or boil it and it's supposed to be melted runny. Order that. Or bring your own nacho yellow cheese sour cream tomato cheddar grated and lots of seasoning with you. And paper towels to squeeze the water out if you go with ground beef. Don't get soggy nachos with only boiled meat. 4th time to eat there in a few years. And last. Taco bell may be small but you can taste it and get sauces. I really miss Monte del Rey! Best one went...
Read moreI wish I could chose negative stars! This place had the worst service. The waitress brought out my boyfriend and his 9 yo's food first. Then a few minutes later brought my food which was wrong. When she walked by I informed her it was wrong and she asked me with attitude if I wanted her to replace it. I said yes(obviously). Meanwhile my 5 yo still hasn't been served. By the time my meal was served my boyfriend and his son were done eating and she still hadn't served my daughter her food. I asked her about it and she said sorry and went to put the order in. We were all done eating by the time my 5 yo was served( thankfully she's not picky and ate off our plates). When I asked for condiments we were given more attitude and told this is the first time she messed up all day. 😂😂Asked for a manager. She said sure but never got him. I got him myself. He didn't say much and took my daughter's meal off plus 20% (still over paid). Then she had the nerve to attempt to apoligize and when we tried to explain the problem she said I don't apoligize but I am! I couldn't believe it and told her to stop talking. The food was pretty bland for a...
