I have been warned by friends not to eat here. How bad could it be? Unfortunately I have found out. After being seated the music system was playing street gang music. Asked the waitress to turn it off she said she would talk to manager. Just as the lyrics said “I plugged a hole in his heart and it is manageron the floor. I ordered a NY strip rare and mashed potatoes plus corn on cob. Let’s not forget the potatoe skins. They did but came after the garbage steak. First steak had fat cap around it. Steak about 1/2 thick. Looked like beige paint unappetizing. Tried to cut into it. Pulled it apart instead. Grizzle and tendons galore. Meat purple and cold. Not cooked at all. Mashed potatoes cold. I stuck my finger into the middle and was cold to my touch. Cold corn. Still no potatoe skins. Told the waitress I would like to talk to manager who never came out to talk to me. Who didn’t come out. Waitress came back an offered me other food and to take of steak off bill. I ordered a Swiss burger good grief gross. Down to the chipped plate that the general manager Corie” said “it is chipped because people like the food and they are popular”. REALLY!! Come on get your head out of your butt. I have been in the restaurant business before and would have fired immediately any manager or rookie manager Michelle who didn’t introduced herself, arms folded across her chest scowling and standing on one foot counting sheep in her negative space brain. Pathetic. If I can I am going to try to post pictures with this review. BTW general manager made all sorts of excuses that their food was cut on site and not frozen reheated. She then told me that NY strip is fatty and has large amounts of fat and grizzle. I informed her it was a lean cut and says so even in their menu. The only reason I am giving this a two star review is the waitress was excellent. Professional and very sorry for everything. I did leave her a good tip. With all this said, I was charged $9.63 for a burger that had 1/4 piece missing. That was definitely not a $20 burger.

Not a covid safe restaurant. No mask on the hostess or server. Waitstaff mask’s were often below nose or under chin. Can only imagine how the kitchen looked. The adventure started with a reservation that was called in, but apparently never recorded. Upon arriving at the allotted time, my name was absent the list. Seated 20 minutes later at a broken table. Broken being, no longer attached to the wall that was required for stability. It worked as well as a 3 legged tabled assembled by a toddler. The waitress was the only saving grace in this adventure. The fried hard boiled eggs were a neat idea but lacked flavor as the pimento was not present. When the entree was served, it was minus my creamed spinach, apparently popular, as it was sold out midway through the Saturday dinner rush. They did not bother to offer a substitute until my dish was served. Not good planning. Being cooked medium rare, the steak was dense though it did have a very good flavor. The baked sweet potato was the best item on the plate. The mixed vegetables, a substitute for the sold out creamed spinach, eventually arrived 15 minutes late. The squash looked fresh but the broccoli looked and had the texture to be out on a bag of frozen vegetables. They were so horribly salty, they were unpalatable. Overall, the meal was over priced, by about 20%, for a comparable dish. But this food poorly served up. Premium price for a subpar product. So much was wrong with this meal, minus the waitress. If you are local and this is the best in the area, oh well. If you are passing through as I was, keep driving, there has to be better down the road. I’ll keep looking.

First visit to Dodge City, mainly because their menu is pretty limited for vegetarians. The Wilkesboro location recently moved to a new location, which was the old Ruby Tuesday restaurant. They did a nice job redecorating, added black/white murals of Gunsmoke and other western shows, and the foyer has photos of local high school teams. We went at 4:00 on a Friday and were seated immediately. Waitress came to table pretty quickly but the delivery of drink orders were a little delayed. Reasonable prices for alcoholic drinks - house Merlot was $5/glass and a generous serving, not the tiny one-gulp glass serving. Restaurant did not have a printed drink menu available yet. Server was very friendly and provided helpful feedback on menu items. Unfortunately, no vegetarian burger options are on the menu- a big disappointment with all of the new meatless options out there now. My daughter ordered a veggie plate (corn ON cob , baked potato, Mac n cheese) -small servings, corn was a grilled corn. I ordered the house salad/baked potato combo. Reasonable I guess for the price ($7.99) . Hubbie ordered the meatloaf ($10.99). He said the meatloaf was okay, but something was missing. Said he wouldn’t order it again. Overall, it was a nice experience and the only reason I left 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the lack of vegetarian options.

Update 7/2024 We decided to give them another try. We got there around 7pm. We were seated after only waiting a couple of minutes. On our way to our table we noticed at least 12 to 14 tables with dirty dishes stacked up. (There were actually more) We thought that was really odd. We got our drinks and our orders taken within a reasonable amount of time. As we were waiting, we noticed the couple that came in the same time we did had not been seated yet. We paid attention because it appeared they had not been seated due to no table being ready. Most of the tables were piled up with left over food and dirty dishes. It was a good 15 minutes before they were seated with only about 10 to 12 customers in the entire restaurant. We asked about the rolls and was told they were out. The same waitress told the table directly behind us that it would be another 10 minutes before the rolls were ready. That didn't go over well. We got our food and I immediately noticed the chili had been sweetened. I know some people may like it like that but I certainly don't. My wife got corn as a side. She asked me to taste it. It was burnt looking and extremely sweet. Like sickening sweet. I know it may be commonplace for restaurants to use a little extra salt or sugar to make things taste better but this was ridiculous. She asked for a different side and chose the small salad. It was room temp and was wilting. She didn't eat that either. Here is the bottom line. I'm sure there are some wonderful people that work there but time after time after time we have have had negative experiences each and every time we went. The owners need a reality check in order to turn Dodge City restaurants into a nice place that folks want to come back to time and time again. It's a shame too because they have everything going for them. They act like it's take it or leave it. Guess what? We are leaving it. Unless they change their business model, we will NOT be back.

Original review: I've been there several times. The food is usually good. The wait staff is always attentive and polite. HOWEVER...For the life of me, I don't know why they serve bake potatoes at room temp. Not hot. Not warm. Butter doesn't even melt. It's not a one time slip up. It has happened to me several times. Dodge City = Cold...

Been enjoying this restaurant name after my Dad's favorite western show for the past few months. Really have enjoyed it and would give it even higher score but today they really dropped the ball. I've been a server & a bartender for about 5 years of a great restaurant chain and understand basically how things go but today was definitely not there best effort. Again we've been coming here for a while my wife and I and our 3 kids. Well today decided to treat my Dad and Mom to a meal for a belated Father's Day meal and my Mom for her birthday in a couple days.coming up. First the my silverware was dirty. No big deal... It happens. 2nd we waited for what seemed like along time for our drinks but again if busy no worries but they weren't. Possibly short staffed then refills for our drinks did happen but not really in a timely manner. Then different items were forgotten when food brought out - yeah that can happen but still waiting on my silverware when my steak is in front of me. Finally everyone gets all the sides - my Mom's steak is not fresh or hot. Seemed like an inconvenience to the waitress when told - I assume the front house manager found out about it while wiping down tables and apologize but steak was dropped off and never checked on again. End of meal comes and I find out that my wife and I and our 2 sons this time and my parents - so a party of only 6 was charged gratuity. Wait what??? A party of 6? Gratuity added? Yes soooo from now on will make sure to go no bigger than 5 - fyi for Mother's Day they rocked it out and I gave the bartender who was waiting on us ( a party of 5 ) a $30 cash tip bc he was amazing and really made us feel important and they were slammed! Today very slow and felt like um we were the bother... Will try them again still but really dropped ball today and wanted to warn of gratuity added when didn't deserve a $21.40 tip. (18%) of the bill. I would have still tipped bc I know the feeling serving but was very...
