A mediocre BBQ joint that leaves flavor behind. Ordered two Burnt Ends Platter and was served what could hardly be described as burnt ends but rather wet and soggy meat. The "burnt ends" came out as a borderline soup. For a meat that comes prepared "smoked" there was a definitive lack of smoke within the meat. The Texas toast served also left taste to be desired. Moving on to the sides, we ordered both the potato salad and BBQ beans. The potato salad was more of potatoes covered in mayonnaise but lacked any other ingredients both visually and tastefully. The BBQ beans were decent but shouldn't be the heavyweights of any meal. The sauce was the only decent part of the main meal that kept this review from going below the halfway mark. While we disagree that the "heat sauce" actually contains heat, we can admit that the regular house sauce had flavor too it. Unfortunately with as wet as the meat was, the sauce couldn't quite pull the rest of the meal up from being lackluster at best.
TL;DR A lack of flavor and quality control issues rooted this review in disappointment. The sauce is good enough quality to be bottled and sold next to Sweet Baby Ray's but wouldn't land on the top shelf. The price to portion size is about average for the...
Read moreHad been looking forward to trying out the Willard location. It was always worth the trip to Aurora to get the absolutely best ribs ever, and they are just as good at the new place! We will probably still go to Aurora more often, it is more spacious, the interior is decorated nicer, and there is the option of outdoor seating. I noticed there is a maximum of 36 occupant capacity at Willard, and it felt small and sparse. But, the service was great and amazingly fast, and the quality of the food more than makes up for the limited space inside. My GF and I love to get the three meat platter and share it; priced at only $19.99 and there is plenty for both of us! We have been choosing two ribs orders and one Texas smoked sausage along with two sides, but were told that soon we would only be able to get only one order of ribs and have to choose two other meats. Kind of disappointing, but food prices are going up and I understand. Still, the menu prices are very, very reasonable for what you get, and I think Hog Tide is going to be one of my favorites for a long time. For BBQ, especially the ribs, this might be the best place you...
Read moreWe stopped in for a quick lunch prior to a 12 mile bike ride on the Frisco High-Line Trail - so we needed to keep it light.
This is a order at the counter, self serve drinks and plastic flat ware in a bag establishment with the menu on the wall like most fast food joints. It's efficient and the friendly engaging staff had the food out to our table in just a few minutes.
She had the chicken club (-the bacon) with a broccoli salad side and a small drink. I had the turkey club with baked beans and a small drink.
Both sandwiches were served on Texas toast with smoked meats, thick sliced bacon, Swiss cheese, lettuce and tomato with a crisp dill spear and mayo on the side.
We both enjoyed the sandwiches, but her pulled chicken was a bit juicier than my turkey slices and her Texas toast couldn't handle the load - making a mess as she struggled to consume it. She liked the broccoli salad. My beans were a bit too sweet for my taste as that sweetness overpowered the smoked meats mixed in.
We left full and satisfied with the meal at an out the door price...
