We were seated fairly quickly, there were about three other tables in the restaurant when we arrived shortly before 5pm. We were only brought four menus for five diners, and they never brought back another despite promising to do so. It took quite awhile to get our drink orders and chips (chips cold, salsa pretty good with nice spice). Waited approximately 15min more to place food order. There appeared to be one waiter, one manager (wandering around talking to the few regulars there already) and no other front staff. The food came out quickly and was hot, accurate. We asked for more salsa, napkins, salt and pepper and never got it. The waiter did bring out a tea pitcher so we could refill ourselves which was nice. The portions were very nice sized for the price. We ordered several of the sampler combination platters which were huge with a taco, enchilada, burrito, tostada, green chili and cheese, guacamole, rice, beans (lots of leftovers). One person in our party ordered the shredded chicken chimichanga, nice sized and generous on the chicken with rice and beans as side with guacamole. One person ordered a shrimp chimichanga and he said it had a generous amount of shrimp with rice, beans and a side of guacamole. The restrooms were very clean and well stocked, handicap accessible. Restaurant was overall clean with no obvious signs of disrepair. Everyone in our party did remark that it was very cold and there appeared to be no heat on despite being 40 outside. We will definitely be back again for...
Read moreWe have been a long time, frequent customer of La Campesina, going back to their previous location. That said, their customer service has went so far downhill in the past year (+) that I do believe we will no longer eat here. There are a couple of male employees with TERRIBLE attitudes, audibly showing their discontent with us substituting the type of meat on our entre, even trying to talk us out of it by repetitively warning of the price increase. We’ve been put on hold and forgot about on multiple occasions. One time even walking in, still on the phone for the last 20 minutes, asking them if they would want to wait on the phone that was on hold. This Facebook page, Google, their website, their menu ALL show a closing time of 10:30 on Friday and Saturday, yet they are closing at 10. I started calling there tonight at 9:47, and they would not answer. They let it ring and ring. I called back over and over, again driving there. I arrived at 9:54 to the doors being locked, lights off (open sign on) and a worker folding floor mats. I asked about their closing time to which he said they close at 10… I called the Shelby location, now 10pm, and an employee answered after 2 rings. She did let me know they were now closed, but at least took the call. This place is going downhill quick! There’s another Mexican restaurant down town, and an amazing taco truck on the weekend. I HIGHLY recommend one of those two options for anyone in Willard looking for...
Read moreI grew up eating here for years. First in the old downtown location, then out on 224 and even their second location in Shelby. My husband and I joked that we probably single handedly kept them in business when we were dating bc we loved it so much. Sadly, today not so much. We were seated and the restaurant had maybe 4 other tables with customers. Waited about 10min just to have our drink orders taken but ordered our food at the same time. Waited another 20min for our food which came out luke warm at best. I ordered chicken fajitas (the dinner portion so that I could have extras to take home)and they were dry and even some of it was cool to the touch. My husband ordered enchiladas super rancheros that were also luke warm and the corn tortillas had harder edges. We also had 2 soft drinks and cheese sauce. We didn't see our waiter except to take our original order and to check out after waiting a good 15min to get our check as well. Not once did they check about our meals or refills. Now I fully understand if its busy but it takes 2 seconds to ask about refills. Heck, the customers that were seated after us, in the immediate two booths behind us, had multiple visits from their waiter. Super disappointed to have such poor service and food from a place we used to love. This is actually the very first time that we both felt tipping absolutely zero was necessary. Needless to say I didn't take my...
