This was the worst Mexican food we have ever had.

I took one bite and immediately looked down at my plate in horror.

Have you ever accidentally left ground beef in a pan for too long and discovered you now have rubbery burnt spheres? That describes the texture of the meat.

But worst than that, it tasted spoiled. It was so bad I had to scrape the meat out and I have never had to do that before.

We had waited so long and I was so hungry that I just ate the rest. Our server was so nice also...I didn't want to make a fuss.

Then I looked over at my daughter's plate. It looked like someone had grabbed a box of mac and cheese from the grocery store...mixed it up earlier that morning...left it to sit ...and then stuck it in the microwave. I thought- why are we paying these prices for this??? The prices are what you would expect from a decent sit down restaurant...not this.

We finished our meal and went to the hotel so we could get some much needed sleep before the next days' 14 hour drive.

Cue the wrenching...not from me but actually from my son.

He hadn't scraped the ground beef from his meal...because he will eat anything. We joke that he's a human garbage disposal.

But oh the horror! He threw up all over his pillow from home and we just threw the entire pillow away. It was that gross.

He continued to throw up throughout the night. The next day he had giant bags under his eyes as we drove and was completely miserable.

We are not picky eaters and will generally eat anything without complaint. But this restaurant was special... for all the wrong reasons. We will remember it for...

I can’t say enough good things about El Comedor Cárdenas! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and spotless. Our server was truly outstanding—kind, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive. She went above and beyond to make sure my family and I were comfortable the entire evening, which made our dinner feel extra special.

The food was absolutely phenomenal. I ordered the enchiladas, and they were hands down the best I’ve ever had—perfectly seasoned, full of flavor, and beautifully presented. Everyone in my family loved their meals as well.

The drinks were just as impressive as the food! The margaritas were perfectly balanced—refreshing, flavorful, and made with care. We also tried the cantitos, and they were amazing, adding a fun and unique touch to the meal. It really elevated the whole dining experience.

On top of the excellent service and delicious food, the restaurant itself is clean, inviting, and has a great vibe for both families and friends. It’s clear the staff take real pride in what they do.

We’ll definitely be coming back, and I highly recommend El Comedor Cárdenas to anyone looking for authentic Mexican food, fantastic drinks, and...

There is a lot going wrong here. I'll keep it simple.

BTW. Worst Mexican food I've ever had in my life ( in order). 1 Holiday Inn in Raymond MN. 2 La Braca in Okiboji IA. 3. El Comedor in Williams AZ.

Restaurant smells like a dirty mop. Service is curt and unprofessional at best. Food is bland and luke warm. Mixed drink was not mixed. Prices out of calibration with food quality. We were served a bowl of salsa that was maybe 1/3 full and maybe 1/4 of a basket of chips. The salsa was bland and watery enough that it didn't matter. $1.79 for an extra basket of chips if you want one. My meal was served cold long after my companion's meal was served to her. I can't explain what the jalapeno poppers really were but it came with a bonus half shrimp from the frier and served on lettuce. The shredded beef in my wet burrito that was ordered as a Chimichanga was grey and smelled off. Meals were said to come with rice beans guac and sour cream. They only came with rice and beans: hold the flavor. I didn't eat much of my meal and was aiming for the door as soon...

The house salsa at El Comoder Cardenas Mexican Food and Cantina in Wiliams AZ was amazing! I am a bit of a salsa connoisseur and I am obsessed with good salsas. I asked the staff about it they said they are a family restaurant with cuisine from Guanajuato in Central Mexico. They said they use roma tomatoes and jalapeños in their salsa giving it a distinct flavor profile unlike many other salsas from other regions of Mexico. Their Mexican pizza was amazing and the carne asada fajitas was good too (I was so hungry from hiking I devoured the food before getting photos unfortunately) 😛 The mojito at El Comoder Cardenas Mexican Food and Cantina in Wiliams AZ was great too! I love making mojitos and drinking good mojitos made by other mixologists 😛 Yes usually I don't order a mojito with Mexican food (versus a good cerveza or margarita) however it was on the menu and they had mint to make it (many restaurants can't offer proper mojitos due to no mint) they seem to also have a decent bar too for anyone more interested in drinks than food.

Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram at SNDTRAVELS and EATWELLTRAVELOFTEN 3.21.23 Dinner Stopping in Williams Arizona for the night, we decided to walk next door for dinner rather than driving downtown because of weather. We don't do Mexican food on the road much, but this had good reviews so we walked over. Diane had the chicken quesadillas, served with beans and rice, as well as sour cream and guacamole. The chicken was flavorful, and the tortilla was nicely grilled. Everything was tasty. I had the taco plate having one soft and two crunchy, all with ground beef. The beef had good flavor and had been drained well, so it didn't drip all over you. The beans and rice were good and standard fare. Overall, everything was good. Not top notch but definitely something we would be happy to do again. Recommended two thumbs-up 👍 👌
