At Witz End — Restaurant in Willoughby

At witz end is a good place to relax, dine, and watch live music.

I ordered a burger and fries. The burger tasted fresh and "healthy", like the onion and lettuce came right from the grocery store. The burger was better than a typical bar burger. The fries are thick, with standard bar taste. I finished the entire meal in one sitting.

The beer is mostly domestic, with a couple of popular crafts on tap. I had the Goose Island 312 IPA and Great Lakes Conway's Irish Ale. Both were solid, but I would have liked some more local options.

My main bartender had a technique of getting another drink about halfway through my current glass, so I always had something on deck. Both bartenders dressed well, behaved professionally, and were attentive.

The environment is clean and relaxed, with a stage big enough to accommodate a four-piece band. I came to see Grunge DNA, an alternative rock cover band, and they sounded good in the space. The music was not overpowering, but loud enough to feel like a rock concert. There is also a touchtunes jukebox when live music is not scheduled.

The clientele were mostly middle-age plus, except for the bartenders. I did not see any rowdy behavior. Some customers were dancing to the music, and had good knowledge of 90s rock.

I was there to see my friends band tonight. I had a great time until I went to pay my tab. I had 4 drinks and they charged me 54$. I told them I’m a server and totally understand things get confused, I was as nice as I could be. They told me there was nothing they could do about it and were still gonna charge me the 54$. I told them nobody else put their drinks on my tab, as I ordered drinks by myself the whole night. They were so incredibly rude about it. I was just trying to figure out what happened. I already tipped them ten dollars even though they messed up. So they gave me a credit reversal and charged me for what I said I ordered and I didn’t tip again on that. The bartender had the nerve to come up to my table and tell me what a terrible person I was for not tipping AGAIN on the reversal. As I left the bartender told me “yeah just get out of here” even though I kept my composure and just tried to leave. I will never go back there and I will tell all my local musicians not to play there. I was told by someone when I left that their tab was messed up too and they were driving clientele away. I totally agree. Will never...

I went there with a couple other people for Reubens and Karaoke. I was very impressed with the Rwuben sandwich for both flavor and value! Very impressive! Next on the list they had Trivia which proved to be very fun. The patrons divided up into teams. Ours consisted of 3 people. I got so excited when our team won the first round! We won 1/2 off an appetizers and so we took it off the wings we had also ordered. They were outstanding, too! After trivia the karaoke started. My mom and I both sang while my son chose to play pool. I got a little stage fright after climbing on stage and beginning to sing when I realized I was being filmed and I could see a life sized version of myself. All in all great experience! Great vibes! Will be back next time...
