Sunrise Restaurant — Restaurant in Wilmington Island

I will NEVER go to Sunrise on Wilmington Island again 🚫 My friend and I randomly decided to go there sometime between 10am and 11am today before work. We were never greeted and noticed that we were the only black people in there, but we just shrugged it off.……We sat at the closest table to the door and waited for someone to at least ask us what we would like to drink.….but we got nothing. Absolutely nothing. I even tried to see if I could get any of the servers’ attention but they all literally acted like we were invisible. We waited and waited and then about 20 minutes later I was more than mad. I told my friend to “come on” and we walked out. And not to my surprise, they didn’t even try to stop us. We didn’t want want to assume it was a black and white thing but literally EVERYONE was being served EXCEPT for us. This place has a great all you can eat breakfast buffet on the weekends and holidays. The place is not large and maybe can seat about 30-40 people at a time. But the food is worth the wait. They offered pancakes, biscuits, cornbeef hash, sausage, bacon, eggs, fruits...etc. The place has no t.v. or music playing so its gives opportunity to spark great conversation at the table with no distraction. The bathroom is surprisingly large. The staff is also large. Alot of people working in sync towards one common goal. The only reason I didn't give five stars is because I had front row seats to a dispute between co-workers; a young man and an older women arguing over a pancake order getting messed up. The older lady let it go but I the young guy was loud in arrogant with his defense. Felt like he should have showed more respect towards his elders. Or at least make sure customers don't see...

I'd like to give this place a 5 star but can't because of the food. It IS a breakfast buffet so I am not complaining about the food, it's just that it's a buffet and therefore I can't validate a 5 star for the food.

The buffet is ample with lots of choices and that's why we visit this one on Wilmington and the one on Tybee island.

The staff here is phenomenal, your coffee, tea, OJ, or water are always filled and the wait staff is prompt and extremely polite.

I would love to rate it a 5 star just for the staff but I'll give it a 3 for food and 5 for staff.

By the way it is set up like a big dining hall so get used to rubbing elbows. Very popular with locals and travellers.
