Agreed. Every epicurean knows that salad is served prior to your entree. Perhaps not the dining experience here. Tonight was moderately busy , yet not as busy as I have witnessed previously. I orders tea that was presented lukewarm/tepid.Nonetheless, I ordered a salad and an entree. Included with the entree was the miso soup, house salad and choice of white rice. The miso soup and salad were present approximately 8 minutes after my seating. Followed by the server confirming that I ordered the salad that was not a part of the soup/salad/ rice accompaniment . 4 minutes later my entree was arrived. The presentation did not meet my expectation; the plate had- what appeared to be sauce that was dripping over the edge of the plate. I reminded the server that I did not receive my avocado and cucumber salad. She said “ok- it’s over there- motioning toward the sushi bar. She went on to answer the phone and wait on 2 additional tables and seat a couple. Next my entree arrived. I asked about my avocado/cucumber salad she retrieved it from the sushi bar and placed it beside my entree. I explained that I did not want the it and asked that it was removed from my bill. The owner came to the table and told me I could eat it now - “no” I said -she stated I will take the entree back to the kitchen to keep it warm. I said “ok” then thought about and ask her to just bring the entree and take the salad off of my bill. After being offered no water, I managed through a now cold entree, and decided to have my meal to-go. ( I can warm this at home). The bill arrived and I ask was the salad adjustment made. Thanks he owner came to my table and explained to me how expensive avocado’s are and other utterances- she was nit rude but wanted to convince that I had to pay for the salad. She further went on to tell me what a great customer I was. (While out home was being renovated I ate at Takumi almost everything evening for 2 weeks, had my husband’s birthday day there, and hosted - party of 5 there). Nonetheless, I did not want to create a scene- as I generally have a fine dining experience at Takumi. However, I will not be returning after such abhorrent treatment. Seemingly seating, fulfilling to-go orders, and making money is far more important that the customer satisfaction of long standing customers…Not only was insulted but felt deeply offended as a faithful diner… IM DONE. Please note, poor service, however the quality of the food generally exceeds my expectations unless they are busy. Unfortunately, I...

There’s really not a lot of options of sushi places in North Wilmington area, so when I found out about Takumi, I thought this place would be my go to place for sushi, though the price of the food here is quite expensive. I placed an order for pick up, $75 for 6 rolls. My husband went to pick up, and he’s very careful not to interact with anyone when unnecessary due to Covid, so he just went straight to the allocated pick up spot and grab the bag given to him. When I opened the bag at home, I was very shocked and disappointed to see that the restaurant only gave us 5 pieces of soy sauce packages. Spending $75 for 6 rolls is not a small amount of money and definitely deserves more than 5 soy sauce packages. I called the restaurant immediately to let them know my concern. The lady who picked up the phone didn’t acknowledge their mistake for being cheap with the sauce sauce, but answered this in their defense: “we don’t put a lot of soy sauce in the to go order because usually customers have a bottle of soy sauce at home”. So I answered: “Well, I must be a very unusual customer!!!“ and I suggested that she should put more soy sauce in the future because not all customers have extra soy sauce lying around at home and that due to Covid, I bet many people want to minimize contact, meaning they will just grab their order and go instead of lingering around to request things. This lady blatantly hates that suggestion. So I said I won’t be ordering from Takumi anymore. To my surprise, she said “that’s fine”. Seriously!!! I would rather drive 30 minutes and pick up my sushi order somewhere else than ordering from a place who prefer to loose a customer over soy sauce. I’ll never ever order from this...

I guess I’ll start by saying I ordered takeout from here. When ordering takeout you think it would be a lot easier process then dining in (especially in today’s circumstances), but no, not here. No signs indicating where you should pick up your food led me to step into the restaurant and analyze the packaged food sitting on a table. Immediately as I did so I was yelled at by the “chef” to get out of the establishment and wait outside where I stood with no sense of direction on where to get my food. After being yelled at by 1 of the only 4 people in this restaurant they assured me that my food had zero contact with gluten. Seeing as my girlfriend has celiacs, we can not risk even a crumb being in the dinner. We made sure to mention this in the online order notes and even after packaging the sushi together in one package they assured us there was not gluten contact whatsoever with out order. I’m assuming you can guess what happens next... she gets sick! On top of that the sushi was absolutely terrible... the salmon rolls wouldn’t stay together in your chopsticks and the shrimp tempura was tasteless. If you like getting yelled at while you eat horrible sushi be my guest...

I have ordered the Tom Yum soup and was very disappointed. The soup was extremely spicy, and unfortunately, there was no indication of this on the menu. I was genuinely looking forward to a warm, flavorful soup, but I wasn’t able to eat it at all due to the spice level. I paid $20 for something I couldn’t enjoy, and no one offered an alternative dish or a refund. I’m very upset about this – not just because of the cost, but because the menu lacked important information that could’ve helped me make an informed choice. Not recommended!

Pretty solid sushi, prices were on the average side as well (plenty of rolls for $8-11). Large selection of vegetarian sushi rolls that I haven’t seen before. Plenty of non sushi options as well. The hostess was friendly and polite and the decor inside was gorgeous. The only thing I didn’t like was that the sushi seemed to come apart pretty easily. Flavor-wise it was good but not remarkable, but I’ve had lots of sushi so your mileage may vary. I’d recommend giving this place a shot if you’re in the area.
