I started working across from grottos on 202 and being I'm from Rehoboth, I was so excited to be so close to one. I have ate there AT LEAST once a week since starting. Sometimes I ate there everyday for a week. I never had a bad experience once. Until today. I had the RUDEST girl ever! I called 45 mins ahead to place the order to make sure there was no issues and I could have my food on time for my small 30 min break. The call started the issues. She didn't even listen to what was said about time pick up and then just hung up on me. When I arrived I waited 10 min before I was even greeted by someone. Mind you, only on lunch 30 mins. I have to go to the kitchen to find someone to wait on me. My order wasn't even put in. Nothing was said to me about this so I'm just standing here waiting to hear what's going on. When I asked what was going on, she was incredibly rude asking "what you want your food cold?". I told her I obviously did not and I asked her if she was having a rough day. She responds "your the one getting all excited about stuff" and just continues to argue with me. I had to walk out of the building she had me that upset. I'm on lunch, mind you, she's now cost me almost the entire 30mins. I decide to come back into the building so I can get my food because I honestly didn't even trust the girl to not do something to my food. I asked to speak to a supervisor, something I never do because I don't like to cause issues with someones job but I thought they should know. The manager looked at me with this blank face like he could care less and only said "sorry I'll talk to her" which I'm sure won't happen. Someone needs to be aware of how regular customers are being treated. I won't even be going back there because I'm that annoyed by the rudeness...
Read moreGrottos on Rt 202 refused to take our order. I took my son to Grottos in Wilmington. The waitress ignored us after we sat down. It was 25 minutes of waiting and nobody took our order. I saw her every once in a while go to a table, but didn't realize we were one of only two tables and she was the only waitress. So 30 minutes goes by and I go to the host. The manager comes over and they were trying to make me look unreasonable. The waitress refused to talk. So eventually they checked their cameras and resized the waitress denied us. So the bar tender ended up serving us. Three more tables cam in after us and she served them. My son is autistic, so I don't know if that is the reason. I went there once a month for a year or so, and always tipped well even though the service could have been better. I noticed the place had half the customers as usual, so I'm thinking they have bad management. Please avoid this place. They are terrible. Also, there was something wrong with the cheese sauce for the cheese fries. I still have no idea why the waitress denied us service. This was the first time this happened. She never even talked to her about this, so I guess it's a waitresses discretion...
Read moreI get grotto‘s pizza takeout frequently and have my entire life. But the new cashier in the checkout area of grotto’s on 202 Concord Pike is the only one I can speak for is customer intimidation you have to accept Pain 10-15 or 20% tip or put no . Tonight the cashier with 2 inch long nails, and an attitude was taken back when I said you don’t tip for takeout. I worked in the food industry many times and you work damn hard for a chip. It’s a gift you give for good service. I’d like to know why people like Dominic feel that the people he’s hired to hand you your food deserve a tip. A waitress serves your food serves your drinks put silverware on a table brings you napkins checks to make sure everything is OK. Clears your dishes adding to the atmosphere of your meal. People order takeout because they don’t feel like being waited on or paying a Chip tonight as I drove away, thinking that they may have put boogers or spit on my meal for not giving them a tip for handing me a box made me question whether or not I’ll go Back. I know I’m just one person but people that own restaurants need to understand that handing somebody a bag or a box does not warrant a...
