Three Friends Coffee — Restaurant in Wilmington

First time coming into this shop and was not impressed ONE bit. I came in with a friend, she ordered before I did. Waited a few minutes and then my son needed to use the bathroom. We got back to the register to order and someone was in front of us so we waited for them to order. It’s my turn to order now, the girl walks away from the register, doesn’t say a word to me. A “I’ll be with you in a just a moment” would’ve worked just fine. The employees start working on the other order ahead of me. Again, nobody has communicated to me. I sit there and wait until I finally tell them to let me know when they’re ready to take my order. Waited another 10 minutes before my friend told me they were just standing behind the counter staring. I go up, I order my coffee and drink for my son, mind you, my 3 year on and 8 month old were with me, so I’m holding the 8m old the whole time. I assumed they add cream and sugar to the drinks because that’s how my friends came out. So I didn’t mention it. The two girls working the front took their time out of pure ignorance because they knew I was already upset about all the prior incidents. She bring me a black iced coffee and I asked if they had cream and sugar out so I could add it. The older lady literally HANDS ME THE CARTON OF HALF AND HALF. Expects me to take the lid off the coffee and the half and half and pour to my own liking all while holding an 8 month old. It went all over the counter, all over the floor. I was absolutely floored by my experience.

As a coffee shop owner, I make it a point to explore new local spots whenever I travel. During my recent visit to Wilmington, NC, I stumbled upon an absolute gem! This charming coffee shop exceeded all my expectations.

The coffee was superb, exactly what you hope for in a morning brew. I was also pleasantly surprised by the affordability of their avocado toast, which was delicious and didn’t break the bank. The homemade donuts were a delightful treat, bursting with flavor.

The atmosphere was both relaxing and vibrant, making it a perfect spot for families. The kid-friendly environment added a nice touch, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, enhancing the overall experience.

I tried loving the place, but there was too many downfalls with this establishment. I myself am trying to open up a similar business to them and asked the owner if they could asked a few questions, they agreed and when asked the questions left me on read. Their coffee was average tasting the first time I went there. The second however I got a cold brew with a shot of espresso with oat milk, and did not taste any espresso and the cold brew tasted watered down and wasn't brewing long enough. Also my wife and a friend for the same 4th of July drink there blended. Both drinks looked and tasted completely different. We think it is a training inconsistency and both me and my wife worked in the coffee business and know how this should be ran. In addition the coffee was 9 dollars for a 16 ounce cup. If I'm paying almost 10 dollars for coffee I would assume it...
